Boris, do you have experience as a Himalayan climber? I don't want to squash your dream, but K-2 is super-dangerous and only highly experienced climbers should attempt it. One needs to get in extreme shape in thin altitudes for a year or two.
Climbing K-2 is like a 300-foot technical dive in the Arctic ocean, with a dry suit, using mixed gasses using advanced decompression methodology, vs. a 10 meter training dive in the caribbean.
Diving is awesome, BTW. I LOVE scuba. Good luck. Oh yes, a K-2 or Everest or any major climb is also very expensive. Climbers often pay up to $100,000 U.S. to buy a slot to Everest.
sir,it is just planning way before in advance,i have passed both basic and advanced mountaineering course from the himalayan mountaineering institute with an A grading,i asked my instructor who has climbed kanchenjunga and nanda devi about what he thought about the right time to climb everest and K2,he said he had been mountaineering for 10 years and he still didnt feel ready.
climbing any eight-thousander means amazing physical fitness to the level that running 10-12 miles everyday is a no-problem matter for you, rucking for miles with loads of upto 80 pounds on your back is again a no-problem task.
K2 is one horrible peak to climb from the pakistani side it is a nightmare, from the chinese side it is like signing your own death warrant.but it is a beautiful mountain if someone asked me to describe it i'd say "the king of the white-devils silently resting on his throne " thats how majestic this mountain is.
everest is easier but its death zone is the hardest.
kanchenjunga is comparable to K2 in difficulty.
incidentally in our SF the CO of the 21 para SF unit has climbed everest three times.
i have been diving for 7 years since i was 14 i was taught by my father, the ocean is again a lovely place.

for adventure seeking mount everest is a good idea because everest is relativey easier
K2 is for professional climbers, K2 is much steeper than mount everest, also bottle neck is a place where one can die of bad luck, lots of casualties there in bottle neck
also K2 season rarely opens for climbing
about the permits, i think you can get easily if you can afford it.
check online for how the permits are available and how to get them
for indians i dont think so it's easy, given the location of the peak in a area where indians are a strict no-no plus as per rules you will need a pakistani army liason with you is another point going against an indian.
i havent heard of any indian till now who has attempted K2.
