ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday said that civil armed forces will be withdrawn from VIP security.
“Our security forces are not supposed to be guards. They do not belong to a private security agency. They have duties to fulfill,” said Nisar, during a press conference in Islamabad.
He said that the government is working to formulate a channel through which security to the citizens will be ensured.
“We want to make it a transparent process,” he said.
Nisar said that two task forces are being created.
“One would address security concerns of the citizens while the other will be tasked with the responsibility of working on the missing persons issue,” Nisar explained.
“The citizens of the country feel insecure,” he said.
Further explaining how the process of ensuring security can be made more transparent, he said “If an incident of security lapse occurs, it would be investigated and the report would be presented to the public.”
He said that a report on the Quetta attack will be presented before the Senate and the National Assembly.
“When an FIR is registered, 14 stations will be notified and not just a few,” Nisar added.
The interior minister further said that all the records of the police stations in Islamabad will be computerised within three months.
Adding to a point about misdemeanour of the youth that hampers civil life, he said, “Reckless and under-age driving will not be given a free pass, even if the children of member of parliament are involved.”
Chaudhry Nisar also expanded on measures introduced for ensuring sanitary conditions of the roads, regularisation of health care and checking tax evasion.
“Medicines should be sold with the name of pharmaceutical company and dealer stamped on it, so that they can be tracked down if the medicines prove to be sub-standard,” he said.

Some salient features:

1- Ministers won't be given protocol inside Islamabad...this would be worthy to watch. I have lived alot in Isl so I know how much inconvenience happens when these folks pass through. Only one Isl police car would suffice.

2- FC and Rangers to be taken off from security of people, only those people will be entitled to it who are having security threats as reported by intel.

3- No more huge protocols just for show.

All good on paper, lets see the implementation. Ch Nisar said that these measures would be taken today.

First thing there is no need for security detail inside Islamabad, the place is safe enough ,one vehicle with two ATS guys should be enough. These guys are trained not to become someones lap dog.....give them the job they are trained for....put those lazy a$$ fat stooges on detail
Ranger/FC no need for them. Lets see....i live localy so spotting them with no protocol shouldnt be hard
