After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan gained their independence in 1991 and took their place on the international arena as the “Newly Independent Turkic Republics”. New Turkic Republics signed agreements on various fields with many countries, notably Turkey, Russia and China. These agreements New Turkic Republics signed generally have economic bases. Agreements with a priority of education and teaching, directed by common academic programs and common purposes, have not yet been implemented. To compensate for this shortcoming, a project with a final objective of “Turkic World Citizenship” was prepared and put into effect in 2013 under the arch of Atatürk University Middle East and Central Asia Caucasus Research and Administration Center within the scope of Scientific Research Projects (BAP). In this article, information about the scope and objectives of “Citizenship of the Turkic World Project”, which was started by Atatürk University and was participated by other institutions and organizations later on, is presented.

This is an academic study/project initated by Erzurum university of Atatürk in Turkey, so far the last meeting was held in Kırgızistan with the participations of 80 academicians from 8 countries.

So you mean to say it is the petty Nation of Turkey not the great Nation of Turkey for they abondoned their citizens abroad. Will you care to mention what Turkey did so you say that we abondened our citizens abroad?

I think we as Turks are the only ones who care this Turkic identity and its roots among all of those countries. During Soviet regime they became more Russian than Russians and doubtful they give a fvck about Turkic Citizenship. Dissolution was only on the map, they are still under heavy hegamony of Reds and we have nothing to do a single shit unless we get better, faster, stronger...

Most Turks dont care about Turan or a Turkic Union but most likely care about their "Ottoman brothers"

Ottomans also a part of our history dude we just can't throw it away. To be honest most of the Turks find Turanic ideals unrealistic and often I hear people complain about other Turkic nations not that Turkic.

While it is true that the Ottoman are a part of your history, most Turkish people would feel "nearer" to a Syrian then to a Kazakh or Uyghur.

Geographically yes, some may see Arabs closer to themselves some others not, that's another subject since there are many ideologies. I am talking about how some of nationalists think as I am observing. We can't rely on Ummah which is not exist anymore and untrusful, we can't rely on Turkic "bros" which under Russian influence. Better to be stronger and richer and go solo... That's what I am thinking..

Language is the greatest binder between nations. If there are linguistic ties between nations they come first. And then comes religious and historical ties. And finally economic ties.

If you can communicate with the same language you do communicate more. I asked an Ozbek worker working in Turkey who can speak Turkish pretty well among other foreigners how he learned Turkish he said he just watched Turkish movies over and over, and that was enough.

We don't need a citizenship framework to achieve unision with our affiliated nations. We can work out other methods to the same effect. Like lifting all barriers to travel, fostering cooperation and avoiding any conflict which effectively achieves the end result of being in the same boat.

But are you guys not genetically closer to Middle Easterners? Genetics wise, I was under the impression that Turks are closest to Middle Easterners, followed by Europeans in the Balkans/Eastern Europe and finally some genetic overlap with other "Turkic" nations. What do you think?

As a result of running an empire thousand year under your control on three continents that's quiet normal recently researches show our genetical structure mixed up with half of the world. Gens have nothing to do with this, imo. You are what you feel deep inside of you. We came from mid-Asia and there is where our roots lye with other Turkic nations.

By that logic, shouldn't you say you came from "half of the world" instead of only "mid-Asia"?

Gens have nothing to do with this, imo. You are what you feel deep inside of you.

All my life I thought you are your genes. Genes are the codes that "make life" - your behavior, your intelligence, your physique, your personality - it's all pre-programmed with genes. Which is why cultures differ between groups of different genetic make up (i.e. ethnic and racial divide). But I'm talking from a materialistic point of view. You can certainly be what you feel, from a non-materialistic, spiritual point of view.
