Chinese Sanctions Benefitting Chinese As SMIC On Road To 5nm In 2025

Huawei was just a 50mil$ company when Motorola wanted to buy them 20 years ago. The deal fell off because Mr. Ren wanted to keep management in Chinese hands. The rest they say is history. What's astonishing is China is building up a complete semiconductor industrial chain which in my opinion not even teh US can achieve.
Sure, they hv no choice given how US is able to stop supply of machinery and design sw.

Is huawii dead? They spun off their phone unit but their telecoms business is still intact. Our whole 5g network is built by Huawei. You can laugh all you want, but look at India and its pathetic state. Hahahaah.

You answered your own question. Read the part before the but. I have no m interest in knocking legitimate Chinese businesses, so won't rejoice if such fail.

I am not answering my question, I am trying to explain to you a concept of tech sovereignty. What China did is challenging the West, India is not even in the same league. Huawei is still the most important tech player in China, our 5G infrastructure is made by them, but it is not dead. Their revenue is around 90 to 100 bil$ annually. China can produce up to 14nm,but to be competitive in the cellphone market we need 5nm. Once EUV is mastered, nothing can stop us matey.

Don't understand this fascination with time bound size. Look it is always good to get more horsepower in a smaller size, and yes that gives advantage especially in the space constraint environments of consumer electronics and other areas, but the chip landscape in any rich electronics environment is diverse and broad. This means all sized chips come into play when building out an integrated ASIC or component. So yes there is a benefit, it must be understood also that once a FAB cracks a size limit it does not mean production is immediately changed. It takes about 2 years for scale implementation of the smaller chips. China has been progressively narrowing this gap. The sanctions have done nothing but speed up China's indigenous efforts. I think by 2030 you'll see unique Chinese innovation especially in areas of quantum computing/mechanics and even chip FAB which is likely to outpace the rest of the world. Mark my words if China can avoid a major conflict till 2050, the next 100 years beyond that will be Chinese.

The real question will be will she be able to avoid a major conflict.

All of what you wrote is common knowledge with a tiny attempt of pride. What's the actual point if any you're trying to convey ?

What common knowledge when China reached 7nm production despite US sanction...

. . .
Obviously US has to do a better job of protecting against knowhow theft
lol, there's no knowhow for 7nm in usa since they dont know how to produce 7nm.
u guys need to stop overestimating ur anglo masters.

.
Lol.. they just recently steal Chinese university data and tap all EU leaders phone. An Indian crook of cos will side with american thieves. :enjoy:

Tapping phones is normal SOP FOR CCP so it doesn't make news.

Sure, sure. Clearly this is not something I'd discuss with you after that rather naive post.

The point is China is the only country on earth able to challenge US domination. Weight be behind with 5nm EUV but we are pretty much independent on other nodes and Huawei is not dead. That's my point, the largest telecom and semiconductor market is in China. YMTC a nobody 5 years ago is now producing the most advanced memory chips. Even Apple wants to use it, but is threatened by Congress. You can't stop us, that's another point, not when both market technology and talent is in China. The only way is to destroy China. That's the ONLY way.

No disagreement with that. But why would anyone want to destroy China or any if it's legit businesses ? A big portion of global quality of life depends on China's factories recovering fully and producing more and better.

On the semiconductor side, over long-term it is a good thing to have more and more countries achieve innovative mastery. May be what I said about design somewhere in somethread misled you. I said China dies not have comparable semi design tools (Cadence, Synopsis etc). 5mm 2mm etc fabs process will come over time and are not the biggest impediment .

Trump and the neocons don't think that way. Their aim is to. Neutralise China, economically and technologically.
