XIAN, CHINA: On Thursday evening, after a dinner banquet hosted by President Xi Jinping for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the ancient city of Xian, the two leaders will walk out to the courtyard of the Pot City for a cultural performance.

Before dinner, PM Modi will be given a traditional Tang Dynasty welcome.

In September last year, when President Xi visited India, he had strolled with PM Modi on the banks of the Sabarmati river in Ahmedabad and he too was treated to a cultural performance. The two leaders had famously sat on a traditional Gujarati swing, chatting.

Xian, the PM's first stop on his three-day tour of China, is the hometown of President Xi Jinping and his hosting PM Modi there is a reciprocal gesture after his visit to Mr Modi's home state Gujarat last year. It is also a departure from protocol and is seen as a sign of the importance China is attaching to this visit.

Welcoming PM Modi President Xi said today, "You received me very warmly in your hometown. I am very glad to receive you in my hometown."

PM Modi appreciated the Chinese leader receiving him outside Beijing. "This is an honour to 125 crore Indians whom I am representing as Prime Minister," he said.

"It is very rare for Chinese leaders to accompany foreign guests outside Beijing," the state-run China Daily noted. It said PM Modi would be given "the highest-level reception."

After talks with President Xi, which will set the tone for formal government to government talks in Beijing tomorrow, Prime Minister Modi will visit the famous Wild Goose Pagoda, a spiritual structure built to highlight famous Chinese Buddhist monk Xuan Zang's journey to India in 645 AD through the ancient Silk Road.

He also visited a famous terracotta warriors museum this morning.

PM Modi has met President Xi three times during the last one year and held extensive talks on a wide range of issues.

Sensationalizing news to stroke its own ego, Modi hosted Chinese president in his hometown, Xin Jinping is merely returning the courtesy.
The Chinese paper was right in saying Indians have inferiority complex.

Both are strong leaders and may even rule their respective countries for next 10 years. I welcome any positive engagement between the two giant neighbors.

You seem hurt by the way Modi is received.

.
Of course,India is much much bigger than little poor Vietnam which is totally meaningless for us,and Vietnam president would never get such high treatment courtesy until the end of this planet. Oh, our emperors had gotten your slave country kowtow courtesy countless times for thousands of years.

you behave ugly

. .
This is borrrrrrrrrrrring. PLA needs to do another border incursion. An active border is very useful to us vis-a-vis Washington D.C.

.
To welcome Modi, China skips protocol and sends out its circus team:

Obviously, the poles (as seen in the graph) were carefully limited to a certain height to prevent Modi ji climbing onto.

Yey, it's tempting...

India is big in China eyes

big market propably.

lmao

Modi ji "Here I come, indoor plumbing!"

The crowd - " Welcome to Civilisation!"

:yay:

are you for real?

china and most parts of it, i would not consider as indoor plumbing. many of them still simply shit on the streets.

indians go to rivers and coast to do that at least.

I am always suspicious of the Chinese, eventhough they are our allies. Chinese are like snakes. Dont know what they will do tomorrow. Just look at North Korea. How they use them for their benefit. Sadly Pakistan has no other options, thus we have to stick with them.

they are not your ally. you have no allies at all.

you must become clever and make deals with iran.

.
i am sorry for you. i dont think chinese leaders realy care for your people. they just see you as a market to sell their products and as a minion to threaten india from both sides.

Pakistan should turn themselfs more towards iran and open themselfs to iranian consumer products. iranian makes beter quality cars. they have some good engineers.

their weapons industry sucks, because mulla regime don´t want to invest in conventional warfare. they only seek WMD.

you must also not forget your saudi sponsors. they will be not amused if you turn towards iran.

With trillions of trade surplus with europe and america; i dont see how chinese think of pakistan as a market for their products...
I m afraid there is more to pak chona relation than just trade...

.
I feel arabs are better option for Pakistan than Iranians/Chinese. Sadly we have already betrayed them. China supports Iran, thus we did not help Saudia in Yemen, even when the borders have been breached and Saudi soil attacked. Shameful how we betray brothers for snakes who just use us.

And for Pakistan, I would love to see EU/Western technology building our country rather than cheap Chinese stuff. Sadly we have no options at the moment.

you are right. betraying saudi kingdom was a great failure. they financed your nuclear weapons. and financed your f16 fleet.
