What's new

Chinese microwave thruster

No chance, toke a decade to build an operational aircrat carrier, for space ship especially with high risk and unmature technology it could take a good century especially when Human are fighting each other, wasting our precious time and exhaust most earth resource.

Okay, how does this sound 'Well atleast you could witness the 1st space flight of a Spaceship of such kind on your death bed'

.
is this something out of Starwars? China's doing a great job replicating this technology they found from watching Star-wars. That's pretty awesome nobody in the world can even visualize that but ONLY the ELITE Chinese can. Very impressive indeed.

. . .
As for cooperation, NASA dropped JUICE and ESA goes for Jupiter alone now. I don´t know how much interest China has in Jupiter and Saturn. Imagine that those moons like Europa, Enceladus, Iapetus and Titan are so mysterious that we even suggest alien life there.

China is still on baby step in space, I think we need to have a solid foundation and master the technology close to earth orbit before undertaking ambitious project such charting Jupiter or Mars, China should only concentrate resource and work on projects near earth orbit and on Moon only.

NASA successfully tests microwave thruster, paving the way for speedier space travel

As with airplanes and many other self-powered machines, the fuel a shuttle engine requires can weigh nearly as much as the object it's propelling, increasing costs while significantly limiting range. It's a challenge we're going to need to overcome before launching long-distance treks through space, where carrying enough fuel may not currently be possible. One proposed method for getting future spacecrafts to their destinations is by utilizing a device called a microwave thruster. A British scientist named Roger Shawyer managed to build a similar engine called an EmDrive several years ago, and while a Chinese team also accomplished the same, the rest of the world hasn't paid much attention until NASA confirmed from its own research that such a device could work during a presentation earlier this week.

NASA's device, a microwave thruster called the "Cannae Drive," was built by US scientist Guido Fetta. It works by bouncing around microwaves within a sealed container, using a method that seemingly contradicts the law of conservation of momentum. Miraculously, the thruster seemed to function as described, and while the model NASA tested is hardly capable of moving any large object through space, the fact that it registered any measurable movement is promising. If the agency can scale up the device significantly, it could be used for anything from limited satellite propulsion that uses solar power exclusively to a spacecraft that can carry astronauts from Earth to Mars in just a few weeks.

Now the race begin...shall be seen who will be the first to build the starship :dance3:

We will WIN.
Once we start studying our texts and Vymanika Shastra, written by Bharadwaja Maharishi.

Spaghetti boy is back lol. What's with the modesty all of a sudden? I thought he looked down on Chinese, especially saying China couldn't land the lunar rover on the moon without EU. Whether some Italian welcomes China on ISS is irrelevant, US is the boss and if the Americans don't allow China to participate on ISS so be it. China is getting closer building her own anyway :china:

This is true.

I am considering if to add extra pepperoni to my dinner pizza.

. .
Can you elaborate and how possibly you gonna win the race?
There are already written documents on propulsion.
Vimana word was only found in India. don't say we didn't describe the propulsion and the types of vehicles.
Vimana =Aerial Vehicle can be inter planetary, or extra planetary and time travel only one such case existed of time travel.Rest were inter planetary or extra planetary travels.

The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, are acknowledged to have invented and built the world’s first successful airplane and made the first controlled, powered and sustained flight in 1903.

However, in 1895, an Indian, Shivkar Talpade, a drawing teacher from JJ School of Art in Mumbai, is said to have flown an aircraft, Marutsakha, on Girgaon Chowpatty.

Talpade is said to have relied on an ancient text to build his model aircraft. Now, throwing light on the text is a book that will be out later this year, by Ganesh Nerlekar-Desai, epigraphist and manuscriptologist at Shivaji University’s Manuscript Research Centre at Kolhapur.

There are two streams of thought regarding the existence of aircraft in ancient times. One believes that the ancients did build and fly aircraft, while the other believes it is too fantastic to be true.

However, what cannot be disputed is the existence of an ancient text on aerodynamics, titled ‘Vaimanikprakarnm’. “At the Bharat Itihas Sanshodhak Mandal in Pune, there exists an undated handwritten manuscript of Vaimanikprakarnm, a treatise on aerodynamics, said to be originally written by sage Bharadwaj. Lord Shiva apparently imparted knowledge of aerodynamics to his son Ganesha, who then transferred it to Bharadwaj,” said Nerlekar-Desai.

Other manuscripts of Vaimanikprakarnm exist at Oriental Institute at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda; Gujarat Ayurved University in Jamnagar and one was in the possession of Talpade, who flew his aircraft at Girgaon Chowpatty.

The text contains information about ways to build aircraft and also how to protect them from the harsh sun and attacks from the ground. “Vaimanikprakarnm suggests the use of certain gemstones on an aircraft to protect it should it venture too close to the sun. It also talks about five different types of lightning and offers solutions to make the aircraft lightning-proof,” said Nerlekar-Desai. He added that the treatise also says that in order to insulate your aircraft from cannon shots from the ground, its body should be made of crystal.

Interesting, and how you guys gonna achieve this with mathematical modeling or simulation?, will be even more interesting if you guys can come up with a prototype.

I had this concept of bouncing a light ray,to generate energy from the photons and energy released long back ago as teen when i wanted to make a self sustainable thing.

Just wait sometime, The present Government continues for another 10 years, you shall see many brilliant inventions coming out of India.

10 years before th eWright brothers, could it be true? Not sure, all I know is 30 years after Tejas it's still not ready. But that's a low blow, and I guess neither here nor there.

The point is this, stop mentioning old inventions, China more or less don't do it anymore. What happened in the past happened in the past, only bring it up if it can help you, otherwise you are really just saying how lame you are now.

That maybe a good idea before, but as we get richer and richer, I think a more diverse agenda is needed, if nothing else, space tech powers commercial tech.

iPods, Slim TVs, laptops and so much more were the inventions of space, making things small, did you use to have the TV that was furniture? Yea, thank space for that.

More money = more programs = more inventions = more money, a great cycle.

This is not a chinese system. The title is misleading. It was developed in the US and tested from USA and China and does work. Beside that it s a great thing and can change alot. I would welcome if we cooperate with China in space related things. The Orinion space ship is a cooperation between the USA and EU and i would welcome if China would join too. I would also welcome China on the ISS. Russia is not a reliable partner and China proved to be trustworthy even in times of disagreement.

This is not true. The EU already cooperates with China in space. We directed your Jade rabbit to its landing point on the moon. It is our destiny to explore the universe and i would have no problem with cooperation with China.

ahahahhaah, China joining the ISS? in your dreams. The U.S is the leader and main decision maker of the ISS. U.S will never allow China to join, not anytime soon. Im afraid China will have to develop everything on its own.:agree: Even countries like India the U.S is still thinking if they should allow them join, forget about China.:D
However, you are right, We Europeans have less worries about China, we cooperate alot with them on many fields like Space and even military. The only upstacle for us to further deepen our cooperation is the U.S. However i understand the U.S position, since when you are number 1, you will find any way to slow down/restarin your nearest potential rival. :enjoy: In this case China is the only country that will/can challenge U.S position in the coming 2 decades or more. Hence U.S policy towards the country. Its normal, evry ountry will ebhave that way.:-)

I agree that it's best China develop on its own without joining any foreign body.
