Chinese embassy in DPRK mourns wartime Chinese martyrs
PYONGYANG, April 5 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese embassy in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) held a memorial ceremony for Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) martyrs at a graveyard in the South Phyongan Province on Tuesday.
Liu Hongcai, the Chinese ambassador to the DPRK, laid wreaths at the cemetery for the CPV martyrs. All of the diplomats at the embassy and representatives of Chinese enterprises and students in the DPRK also paid tribute to the martyrs.
Earlier Tuesday, the Chinese diplomats also paid tribute to the CPV martyrs at the Tower of DPRK-China Friendship in Pyongyang.
The CPV entered the Korean War to help the DPRK people resist U.S. aggression on Oct. 25, 1950, about four months after the conflict broke out. Tens of thousands of CPV soldiers died during the war that ended in 1953.
