Chinese diplomat shares video statement of a ‘happy Pakistani bride’ in China

ISLAMABAD: China said it had investigated the cross-cultural marriages of its men with the Pakistani girls and found no evidence of prostitution.

“These are lies that Pakistani girls are trafficked to China for forced prostitution or sale of organs,” said Lijian Zhao, deputy chief of mission at the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, in a tweet.

“Most marriages between China and Pakistan are good. Illegal marriage brokers shall be punished, not brides and bridegrooms.”

The Chinese official shared a video of a girl who is narrating her blissful married life with a Chinese man, who is seen in the video holding her.

“I am Hina Patras. I am a Pakistani and a resident of Mingora, Swat,” said the Pakistani girl. “I am married for five months now. I’m very happy with the marriage.”

My in-laws are very good and my husband is ‘very loving and caring’, she said.

On May 15, China decided to withhold the visas of Pakistani women planning to travel to China with their spouses, after the complaints of human smuggling in the garb of cross-cultural weddings were received.

Zhao said the embassy had alerted Pakistani authorities after witnessing an unusual increase in wedding visa applications this year.

“Last year, 142 Pakistani women applied for such visas after marrying Chinese nationals,” said Lijian Zhao, while talking exclusively to Urdu News.

He said this year 140 Pakistani brides had applied for this category of visa so far. He said China was investigating all 142 cases of weddings that took place in 2018, and initial investigations revealed that in a few isolated cases the couples were experiencing trouble.

“We are trying to determine if there are any problems. We are ready to help those girls if there is an issue.” Zhao also mentioned a complaint by a Pakistani wife who wrote a letter to a Pakistani federal minister complaining of torture.

After receiving the letter, he said, the Chinese authorities probed the matter but found no evidence of torture. The couple later divorced, after which the diplomat said the local government in China provided the Pakistani women with a train and air ticket to travel back home. She arrived back in the country on May 2.

Lijian Zhao, however, denied media reports about Pakistani women being trafficked and subjected to forced prostitution and organ sale in China. “Lies are being spread on the internet and the media that the Pakistani girls are being sent to China for forced prostitution or sale of organs. It is totally fabricated and for sensational purposes. There is no evidence for it,” he said.

Meantime a local court in Pakistan dismissed the bail application of 11 Chinese nationals in a case of the alleged fake marriages, forced prostitution and organ trade of Pakistani girls in China.

She's from the Christian community of Swat. This is not a fake interview. She's Masters educated and social worker by profession and it's highly unlikely that she's in China by force.

Can't copy the link for some reason but she was in news in 2015.

Patras says if elected she will focus on women’s rights violations and helping marginalised communities

MINGORA:
Only six years ago, girls in Swat were barred from leaving their homes and their education was banned by the Taliban. However, since the security forces drove out the militants, the district’s women have made great strides in raising their voices for their rights. From Malala Yousafzai campaigning for girls education to Tabassum Adnan working for women’s rights and Humaira Shaukat becoming Swat’s first women lawyer.

Hina Patras, a representative of Swat’s small Christian community, has now joined the ranks of these brave women. Patras, 25, has become the first Christian woman to contest local government polls for a district councillor seat in Saidu Sharif.

Patras has a master’s degree in sociology and is a social worker by profession.

“Serving people was my innate drive,” Patras tells The Express Tribune. Her passion only grew after she joined an NGO and came across those marginalised by society.

For Patras, fighting for minorities’ rights and resolving their problems is not the only factor that pushed her to contest elections; she wants to serve humanity irrespective of religion and creed.

“In my social work, when I meet poor communities, particularly women, my heart sinks. I want them be happy and prosperous, with equal rights,” she says, adding the major hurdle in women speaking up for their rights is lack of awareness and education.

The problems minorities are facing in Swat are a bit complicated; they do not face discrimination from locals, but they feel that the government does not take their needs seriously, she says. “We (Christians) have no proper church or graveyard, and we are only considered fit for lower positions such as sanitary workers and peons, in government departments despite being highly educated,” she says.

However, Patras is confident that if elected she would resolve these issues as she believes she has the support of minorities and Muslims

alike.

Patras is aware that working in a male dominated set-up will not be easy but she says her parents encouraged her in her cause. “Some people tried to put pressure on me to give up the idea of contesting. They said politics is not a woman’s job but I will show them that women can be better at it than men, if they have the support of their community and passion to serve,” she says.

After finding out that Patras will be contesting, many women have already started listing their demands. “Girls want me work on establishing a playground and women’s university. They also want skill training schools in Swat,” she says.

A staunch supporter of girls education, Patras says many women have received higher education but do not make use of it for various social reasons, which should not be the case.

“I will mainly focus on women rights violations in the area because domestic violence, underage marriages, dowry demands, denial of legal share in property, acid throwing and swara affect me emotionally,” she adds.

Patras says she will do all she can to fight for women’s rights and for the rights of marginalised people, but she also calls for collective action. “Alone I cannot do much, but collectively we can make a difference.”

A staunch believer in equality, Patras says, “I am not a minority, I am an equal citizen of this country.”

Wow .
What happened to her eyes she looks like she’s been working double night shifts in China
She looks exhausted poor girl I think someone should go check up on her health .

One video doesn't disprove anything. FIA aren't stupid for conducting raids and arresting those directly involved and their facilitators.

Do you think Chinese Embassy staff are stupid to publish her interview if she's actually in that trade??? She's a known person, of sorts, in Pakistan and it will be very easy to find out about her life in China.

.
Chinese Propaganda, nothing else. They've been exposed and now they're trying to cover up. Wannabe Chinese Pakistani nibbas should really get some brain.

.
Jo karna hai karlo, the Chinese are picking up Pakistani women.

This highlights the state of affairs of our society as well, whereby the Pakistani men are not even considered worthy enough by their own women.

. .
So a Chinese diplomat is accusing FIA of lying?

This whole Pak Cheen thing is going to leave us up the shite creek without a peddle.

China's one child policy has created a huge gender gap in favor of men. They have killed most of their girls.

Mix that with greedy as puff Christian Priests willing to literally sell young Christian girls to the Chinese and you have a disaster at your hands.

This situation is a lose, lose for us. It needs to be put down immediately and urgently.

Our relationship with China is purely economic, diplomatic and military. There's virtually no cultural similarity between us and it represents a fault line.

Ye hi to masla ha ..
Ghar ki murghi daal barabar ha .

There should be a law that Foreigners (on any kind of visa) can only marry Pakistani nationals if they have written approval from Interior Ministry.

And that approval application should contain police checks on these people from their countries along with income verification to support the spouse. Make it difficult for those in the trade and genuine should not have problems providing all such details.

But legislators are too busy in corruption and avoiding being caught.

Why only Pakistani girls can Pakistanis marry chines girl as well?

A few Pakistani guys I know are happily married to.

Japanese too.

One of our family friends is a Japanese professor married to Pakistani. He's a revert and religious family - children are very well groomed. All fluent Urdu speakers, including him.
