Chinese couple bring destroyed Bamiyan Buddha statue back to 'light'
BAMIYAN:

Over 14 years after the Taliban had destroyed the giant statues in Bamiyan, Afghanistan, a Chinese couple utilised advanced image projecting technology to bring the world’s tallest standing Buddha back to light.

Using relics-friendly technology, Zhang Xinyu and Liang Hong were able to ‘restore’ the iconic statues for two days last weekend to the cheers from the locals.

Xinyu told Chinese news agency Xinhua that, along with his wife, they aimed to help the people of the area understand the significance of their cultural heritage.

This is a great gesture by China, it must show solidarity against such crimes as destroying world heritage sites.
The bamiyan Buddha statues are now a complete loss to humanity.

That is true but the Taliban did have a slightly valid reason for blowing up, not that the reason was completely correct or morally ok and went way too far but the reason was sorta valid.

Even paedophiles have a valid reason for molesting children.

So what is your point ?

???? Pedophiles don't have a valid reason. Anyway I think you are slightly butthurt over the statue. I would forget it, made by non-Natives and is forever gone. Time to move on.

I am sure they think they have a valid reason. Same as you.

Only crazy people do things without a valid reason. Everyone else have valid reasons for doing all kinds of evil.

You seem to be butt hurt over being exposed. I don't give a shit about any statue in Afghanistan or Egypt. Get a life.

BTW those afghan statues were made by Native afghans ........ the same way your pagan pyramids were made by native Egyptians and your jew slaves. or do you think Aliens made them ?

Nothing other than religious intolerance can justify the destruction of the status.

If you justify such religious intolerance then China as a irreligious communist country should destroy all places of worship and abolish all religions.

Yeah right, you are crazy since you seem to believe the bible and it's nonsense. Jews never built the pyramids. Neither did Native Afghans, they were built by Buddhists from India, that is all you butthurt Indian.

You do know it wasn't for religious intolerance.

The Taliban leader was completely fine with the statues being there, he honestly didn't care.

He actually tried preserving them.

In July 1999, Mullah Mohammed Omar issued a decree in favor of the preservation of the Bamiyan Buddha statues. Because Afghanistan's Buddhist population no longer exists, so the statues are no longer worshiped, he added: "The government considers the Bamiyan statues as an example of a potential major source of income for Afghanistan from international visitors. The Taliban states that Bamiyan shall not be destroyed but protected."[52]

In early 2000, local Taliban authorities asked for UN assistance to rebuild drainage ditches around tops of the alcoves where the Buddhas were set.[53]

The Taliban supreme leader Mullah Omar explained why he ordered the statues to be destroyed in an interview:

I did not want to destroy the Bamiyan Buddha. In fact, some foreigners came to me and said they would like to conduct the repair work of the Bamiyan Buddha that had been slightly damaged due to rains. This shocked me. I thought, these callous people have no regard for thousands of living human beings -- the Afghans who are dying of hunger, but they are so concerned about non-living objects like the Buddha. This was extremely deplorable. That is why I ordered its destruction. Had they come for humanitarian work, I would have never ordered the Buddha's destruction.[58]

Why would Buddhist from India go all the way to Afghanistan to build statues you moron. They would go to convert the Afghans to buddhism and then the local native buddhists would make the statues under commission from their buddhist king or local chapter or sanga.

Are you now claiming that those statues of Buddha in China was made by Indian Buddhists ?

BTW which pagan culture build the pyramids ? Aliens ?

China respects its history and way of life, it is a very ancient civilization and the birthplace of many ideas that we now take for granted.
China can never act like the Taliban.

Don't quite understood why some elements of Afghanistan , acted in act of great idiocracy since in Islam you have to give protection to minority religion

It was certainly a great , anti culture activity that some elements of Afghanistan did this

This was certainly a confusing act as in Pakistan we have many religious symbols of past civilizations in museums , on the street still in same sport etc

I think the first time when I heard this news I was a bit shocked as to why the folks are doing this act ,as normally folks preserve cultural things for tourism and minority religions etc
