Officials of 5 Chinese companies holding on-site visits for metal crucial for batteries

Representatives of five Chinese companies have arrived in Afghanistan on special visa to explore lithium resources in the war-torn country estimated to be worth $1 trillion, Chinese state media reported.

The officials are conducting on-site visits to explore extraction of the metal which is a critical but scarce resource used in batteries and other technologies considered crucial to tackle the climate crisis, according to Global Times.

Exploration of the minerals, however, come with risks as the interim government in Afghanistan tries to consolidate power.

Yu Minghui, Chinese director of the China-Arab Economic and Trade Promotion Committee, said special visas were made available after coordination with Afghanistan’s Mining Ministry.
According to Yu, the officials of the Chinese companies were “concerned about basic guarantees of security and social order in Afghanistan.”

“Some believe friendly relations between China and Afghanistan… are conducive to Chinese companies' operations,” Yu said.

China has been a major backer of the Taliban-led interim government in Afghanistan after US forces exited in August and has since proven to the biggest contributor in humanitarian aid.

Yeah , and Afghani being Afghani, will kidnap and kill chinese, stop the exploration, and remain in stone age. Then brag about how brave they are. 😅😅😅

Uyghurs in Afghanistan and Taliban ain't gonna be happy. 🤔

Their country, their rules??

Isn't that how it goes???

Or is that only to be applied selectively across the board? :D

Wow that was fast... Great development

You seem to say think the "stone age" is bad...

How could "stone age cavemen" defeat the worlds superpower and 40+ buddies including every neighbor including Pakistan & Iran who helped the US in its invasion of Afghanistan?

Then they should also remain in their country and not leave it.
You lift a stone anywhere in the world, and you will find a Afghani living there.

All Afghans aren't Taliban....all Taliban aren't Afghans either.

English and logic is hard too right?

If blowing up your own entire country and killing own countrymen in their hundreds of thousands is victory, then yes they won.

Same can be said about many other countries....your point??

Like I said in another thread....mankind migrates, still does and will continue to migrate.

You're saying that your ancestors have been on the land you were born on since the Big Bang??

I think not. :D

What do you know about warfare??

Best you can do is keyboard warfare.

On War & Victory:

1 million VC (Vietcong) were killed in Vietnam. The US lost.

1 millions Algerians were killed in the Algerian War. France lost.

Let me summarize a great passage from The Best and The Brightest by David Halberstam where a US platoon searches the body of VC soldier they had just killed. They find a letter he wrote for his family that says "I simply accept it is my fate to die for the liberation of my people". The soldiers in the unit knew they were fighting for a losing cause. That is sometimes what winning looks like - get your *** handed to you by the enemy......but the enemy is forced to leave.

For a people who refuse to live under the power of a foreign government, or who refuse to be pimped out by local elites who are at the command of foreign government, it is a bloody way to victory.

"It is far better to live like a lion for a day than to live like a jackal for a hundred years" - Tipu Sultan, 1799, Muslim ruler in India, before being executed by the British for rebellion.
-------------

Like I said above....what do you know about the War in Afghanistan??

Best I can think of is you listening to American or Pakistani news on the matter.....neither of which would have given you any insight at all.

And it shows....your lack of "insight" into the matter. :D
Yeah but 90% asylum seekers anywhere in the world are Afghani.

Post a source or don't post lies. 🤔

Well yes , it is the rightful criticism. They can't explore any resources by themselves in their country. Any foreign entity doing it for them, gets blown up.
This has been going on forever. Then the Afghani also brag about it.
So how they are supposed to generate money for development?
Development costs money? Right?

You do know that lithium is used for higher end products like EV's (electric vehicles) right??

Are there any EV's in Afghanistan??

So why do they need to dig up Lithium in the first place??

Do they really need it?? Is it worth extracting it from the ground for them right now??

You have to ask all these questions before posting stupidity on the forum.....just saying...

The Chinese need the lithium.....not the Afghans. That lithium has been sitting there for thousands of years now. And probably will continue to unless a deal is reached which favors both parties...

With this mentality of yours, I guess you are Afghani too.
Go brag about "5000 year old history " while having no future. 😅😅😅
Good luck.
BTW, i agree Afghani don't need lithium, the Afghani only need a few stones, mud and goats. Nothing else .
