China's work force is set to decline 30% by 2050

Which is a good thing. They retire so young people can get a job. In Canada, old asses work past 67 so we have a high youth unemployment rate.
My mother was supposed to retire at 50, military factory. It went bankrupt years ago .
But that company's other factories adopt the same policies.
In steel factory, some women workers retire at 45, men at 50.
My mother has just reached 50, now she gets pension.

I have no problem if they dance at public parks or public squares.
But not in community parks

Whenever I visit China, I was always moved by the street dancing, they are still in their early 50's, worry free, full of energy and happiness. This is a privilege that western retirees can never enjoy. By the time they are retired, they are just do not have enough energy left for that. No to mention lot of them have to work way pass their 70‘. In local Costco and Walmart stores, you can see plenty of those older people working.

Don't they have pension?
I never see people work over 70s, except professors who love their work toooo much.
U have to give young people opportunities!

I guess they did not work hard enough when they were young or did not save enough when they had money, and social security checks are not enough to cover their living expense. Lots of folks do not have likes of 401K or 403B retirement accounts, only income after retirement is from social security.

For our generation(20-30s), our parents usually have large savings and pensions are ok.
They mostly retire now, that's where are those street dancers from.

Not everyone dance.
On our 20km-long Yangtze riverside park, more people are jogging and briskly walking.

Looks though our Indian friends are aming for population of 2 billion in 30 years。

Now if only we were a nation of 500 million souls。:azn:

Healthy and strong souls。:enjoy:

Exactly. University professors are rarely inclined to retire and this clogs up the chances for young academicians to have a chance. One well established researcher can make two generations of researchers obsolete.

There must be some policy to force them into retirement.

And, early retirement and square dancing is just good.

When I play basketball in the court at the park, next to the court, the square is filled with dancing senior ladies and gentlemen.

I wish to see my senior adviser right there so that I can take up his seat in the institution.

On topic: I am in favor of scrapping the one-child policy entirely. China won't have a population boom, but, a healthy demographic growth.

Single kid parenthood is not good for most families. China needs to sustain a healthy 1billion+ population.

If the productivity doesn't increase dramatically, the economy is set for a really tough environment.

But you are not changing any policy.

Also, once people get rich and educated, they are less inclined to have children. How will you force them?

By giving money? Let's say you need to give a 100k yuan for one extra child to the parents. Just for a 10 million children it will be a drag of 1 trillion yuan.
There is nothing to worry about China population. it has 1.3 billion even the number reduce to 50% the number of remaining is more than 600 millions, a massive number. Chinese is in every corner of the world. Vietnamese has a joke "if we fight with Chinese, every Chinese just pee, will cause flooding entire Vietnam, they no need to fight."

India is food sufficient. Though there are quite a bit of malnourished people in the country, the essential fundamentals are encouraging.

Rather, in India there are free food supplies in many states, for people who are poor.

You just never learn.

On economic terms chinese population are undergoing the transaction from labors to consumers while indian population hasnt reached labor status yet, feeding them is easy good luck finding them jobs

So what's the point?Children and the aged still don't work.Less people still create less value.Robot still has nothing to do with this problem.

They'll make it less of a problem by stabilizing prices for goods and giving better jobs to those who do work. Increasing the retirement age is also a good idea.

Hard to believe India's eCommerce only worth China's 1.2%, and their much talked about consumer driven economy is China's 16%!
