Traditional Sunni Islam has 4 mazhabs, and recognizes a 5th which is Shia Ithna Ashari (mostly in Iran).

Salafism (meaning predecessors) is a rejection of the mazhabs (Sunnism) and especially Shiaism, Sufism. They also reject the scholars of both. They are literalist and reject philosophy and ascetic spirituality.

Among Salafis there are various groups such as Madkhalis (generally favor regimes and governments to stay in power,) KSA/Arab Salafism (closer to traditional Islam but anti-Shia,) and radical Western Salafism which developed among Western converts.

Among all these groups, Western Salafism is the kind which gave birth to Daesh and these other radical groups, fully funded and egged on by Western governments and provided training by Israelis.

Most Muslims do not accept Daesh as representing Islam, because they reject traditional Islamic scholarship, hadith, and view their leader as infallible.

Khawarij (literally meaning outsiders) were a rebel movement at the time of the Four Rightly guided Khalifahs (Khilafat Rashidoon,) they killed 3rd and 4th Khalifahs of Islam, Usman and Ali RAA respectively.

They believed that any person who commits any minor sin becomes necessary to be killed, even if he is a successor or relative of the prophet Muhammad saws. Hadith warned us about them.

Daesh are the descendants of these people. They are not classified as Muslims in our faith.

Chinese people should be at ease. The Islamic world is almost fully on the side of China and Russia, as we are sick of US adventurism and oppressive foreign policies.

Pakistan, Turkey, and Iran are the most important Islamic nations today who practice traditional Islam. All three of which are squarely on China's side in this struggle.
