If we are aware of this problem now, several decades before it is predicted to happen... yet we somehow don't modify the one-child policy during in the coming decades, then we fully deserve to suffer for it.

And even in that worst case scenario, under the assumption that there are no changes, we will still have a lower dependency ratio than India for 20 more years. And will continue to have a larger working-age population than any other country on the planet.

That's all hypothetical anyway, since the CPC is already in the process of modifying the policy.

Things like tax breaks only work if you are not so dirt poor and actually pay tax. Dire situations sometimes calls for dire measures.
Problem with rules like the one child policy is that we tend to project these rules on our own situation and time. Of course just looking at the name of such a rule and not seeing the nuances doesn't help either.

They still have so many people that it would take generations for the bomb to actually even start ticking. While this is there, one thing I find silly in this article is China's comparison with Europe. Europe and North America are far far older and other than non-white minorities, face a looming demographic recession. This is because Europe and America(north) have been receding since the 60s and 70s while China has only started to show slight symptoms now.

so.... America isn't facing a demographic recession then?

You're talking about two different political ideologies, conservative and liberal. You are also talking about two different time periods, so the comparison is false. You don't see us talking about Indians ''breeding like rats'' as you put it.

Wow, that really was a great poem. Really vividly shows how the last few western-origin superpowers have always aimed at China in various ways. Plus, they were all logical points, they can't logically refute even one.

Britain was no different really, it meddled and killed millions and then spun that as "liberation", just like the US now. It's facinating how China still faces western "liberation" attempts. Now that China is strong though, they prefer subversive means rather than a straight fight.

It's interesting that the people who go all over the world harping and preaching about peace and freedom, actually invade some new poor, weak country every couple of years and kill millions of innocent civilians. And then they pat themselves over the back over the great job they did "liberating" yet another country. Too bad China doesn't have a global propaganda spin machine as powerful and transparent as the US' media mega-corps.
