What's new

China’s new nuclear submarine missiles expand range in US: analysts

I understand English is not your first language but it says “presumably” meaning maybe

so try again
Yeah, what what was the purpose for PLAN to make patrol globally? it just wasted money and energy for nothing!. China should do better thing by focussing in west pacific and with her economic development.

then the Chinese leadership is more stupid Than I thought

they have been building nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers for coastal patrol?

no wonder the economy is doing bad

LOL. None of what you are saying in line with fact nor logic

The fact is China economy performance is the best, so according to your logic China must be the smartest esp for building submarine for coastal patrol?

Where did you get your education?

As usual, Chinese members underestimate the capabilities of the US Navy. This is the same US Navy who have spent decades dealing with Soviet submarines, chasing their SSBNs and evading their attack submarines.

The US has a fleet of attack submarines that are hunting Chinese submarines wherever they may be. Plus, the US has a long history of submarine development, including the latest Virginia-class of attack submarines.

The idea that they can sneak up on the United States and not be detected is a vain boast.

SSBN is not to sneak up on USN close range but to lob hundreds of nuke warhead on US soil from far to make US think twice about nuking China first. It is the US who underestimate China abilities to effective counter nuke them.

Our first strike weapon is in place! A massive salvo from all seven Type 094 parked off Californian coast and the Americans won't know what hit them!
Err...

China have 2nd strike options (and deterrence) with this fleet for sure.

But keep this in mind:

Although the Jin-class is more advanced than China’s first experimental SSBN – the single and now inoperable Xia (Type 092) – it is still a very noisy design; it is suspected that the Type 094 remains two orders of magnitude louder than the top Russian or American SSBNs (Coates 2016). For that reason, China would face constraints and challenges when operating its SSBN force in a conflict (Kristensen 2009a).

Acoustic signature of Type 094 is rated 120 decibels.

Dude 12 ICBM with 10 MIRV each with 100 KT war head is enough to kill at least half of the world population. If they are all used and hit various parts of the world. They would kill millions on impact, and within few months of their use billions will die from the side effects they would cause.
Concentrated nuclear strikes is BAD NEWS for any country (no doubt) but global effects of a nuclear war are exaggerated in theory, albeit for good reasons.

Nuclear weapons can help prevent wars (create deterrence) but emergence of increasingly sophisticated defensive applications (and arrangements) might erode this dynamic in the long-term. Humans have this itch to outdo each other in every domain for better or worse.

If you study geology and climatology, you will realize that both natural and extraterrestrial forces are unparalleled killers in fact. There are global traces of a catastrophic event which happened just 12800 years ago. People should fear Allah Almighty and not take his gifts for granted.

Security concerns of China are much more pronounced in the Pacific in comparison to other regions.

Following information was declassified by Pentagon:

Your source is for Type094 and not Type094A.

The "A" has many improvement including noise damping system and even newer propulsion system that significantly reduce it acoustic signature.

Well tell that to the OP:

Sounds like bragging to me.

are you Chinese fanboys for real?

Trident has done over 178 test launchs since 1989, thats 178 test launches of a missile we know a lot about, and have a HUGE and long record with, day time night time and multiple launches with Salvo launch

Just goes to show, even then, how critical live fire testing of these systems is.

For those who think a system like the DF-21D or Type 094 could be seriously deployed and relied upon to defend a nation without such testing...well, it is just a ludicrous.notion.

The Chinese have a Type 094 and DF-21D program. And they certainly have some missiles deployed. But they have never carried out such a full-up, live test against targets at sea.

Such testing is absolutely critical, as the US shows itself with continued testing of even very mature systems.

If you want to depend on them...and rely upon them to do the job...you test them in as close to the actual environment as you can devise.

you cannot Compare the dodgy Chinese SSBN with untested JL-2 or 3 to true and Modern SSBN like the Ohio and Vanguard Class which has conducted 178th test launch of Trident missiles since 1989

All Ohio class SSBNs will reach beyond its lifespan design by 2027 because its newest vessel USS Louisiana (SSBN-743) was deployed back in 1997.

All nuclear subs got a nuclear reactor with the lifespan around 30 years without any mid-life refueling. That's something irreversible, you need to become retired after 30 years no matter how sophisticated your initial designation was.

All the most optimistic speculation is that the lead ship of the Columbia class SSBN will enter in service by 2031, but that's the most optimistic speculation. But the unforeseeable covid time, we don't know how long it gonna take.

As for the Vanguard class, the UK even relies on the US for the Trident II SLBM, so good luck to compete with China's more superior/independent JL-3 SLBM.

Well, the US mentality is all about complacency, just like how they believed they could handle the pandemic better than anyone else in the pre-covid time.

In the reality, they will get a nasty surprise at certain.

trolling by a senior man like u? smh.

Ok, so you're saying here that DF21D or Type 094 cant be seriously deployed......BUUUUUT THEN you go on and contradict yourself below by saying:

And they certainly have some missiles deployed.
LMAO...how can you say they cant seriously deploy a missile system like DF21 and aftre that say THEY HAVE SOME DF 21 MISSILES DEPLOYED??LMAOO....you tlak rubbish sometimes, thats for sure.
But they have never carried out such a full-up, live test against targets at sea.
THen why is US now worried about China's military might???? US recently jist abandoned RUssia as the US's main military threat and its now China....why woujld the world's sole super power be concerned about a country like China if China didnt have serious military capabilties to contend with??? you're a troll who lives off playing devil's advocate and assuming with nothing to support it.

Here you are again...ranting about irrelevant theories.
If you want to depend on them...and rely upon them to do the job...you test them in as close to the actual environment as you can devise.
BUT YOU ALREADY SAID THEY ARE DEPLOYED...why would China need to retest missiles its already deploying and increasing their depoyment? you're contradicting yourself!

Ok then give me the source for all JL3 tests

here’s mine

178th Trident since 1989

Around 110 decibels then. Impressive.

Ohio-class submarine(s) have a life span of 42 years each. Retirement process will begin in 2027 and continue until 2040. This is sufficient time for Americans to build a fleet of Columbia-cass submarines.

American 2nd strike capability will remain formidable in the foreseeable future.

This is the overdue retirement as they cannot pull out the Columbia class SSBN as quickly as they expected.

I also expect the first three ships of the Nimitz class to continue remaining in service after 50 years of lifespan.
