CH-6 UCAV

MTOW : 7.8 Tons
Internal Payload : 300 Kg, External Payload : 2 Tons
Endurance : 20 hours
Range : 12,000 Km

Bomb truck? 2 tons external payload?

That's mean..

With only 2 unit CH-6 UCAV (12 hours each), China can monitor One Sector/City/Area 24 hours nonstop.

If Movement detected by their one of China High-Resolution Earth Observation System (CHEOS) or China High-Definition Earth Observation System (CHDEOS) Satellite, like Gaofen Series and Superview Series Satellites. Or even from their Private Space Companies , like Jilin-1 Constellation Satellite (From Chang Guang Satellite Technology Company ).

Then there would be almost 2.5 Tons Smart Bombs ready to rain on those poor enemy

I wonder why they changed the turboprop (or was that piston?) from CH-5 to the turbojet? Obviously the cruising speed and altitude would be higher, but you lose out on endurance and ease of maintenance.

I'm guessing it's for the altitude to keep it out of range of enemy SAMs.

Clap, clap.
even though UCAV are no longer nation's strategic projects but still has big potential in export market.

Realistically MANPADS are ineffective against targets above 5000m, which the CH-5 would have already been capable of cruising above.

I think some foreign customer want fast speed response. Turboprop cannot give the speed require.

It is clearly designed with properly equipped adversery in mind, which would have at least mid range anti air defence system. Its survivability increases significantly with high speed and altitude. Naturally it will have high end avionics to be effective when operating at high altitude meaning it would be a lot more expensive.

Twin engines; good for the navy and operations at high altitude.

with higher altitude and thrust to weight ratio, CH-6 more total energy.
Drones are different. It's not meant for dogfighting. Payload and endurance are the most important aspect. You need to be able to fly above target zone and monitor/strike enemy forces for extended period of time.

CH-5 can only protect itself against MANPADS. Against anything with more range it's pretty much a sitting duck. CH-6 isn't designed for low level conflicts where the enemy don't have access to higher end air defenses.

With more energy you increase the time and energy spent by the enemy missile to reach you. Also greater thrust to weight ration means you can fly further away if you are locked on. Adding both together it means more energy greatly increasing your chance of survival against enemy air defense. Effectively this means the enemy missile's "zone of no escape" is greatly reduced.
