on February 19, Chinese private aerospace company GalaxySpace announced that China’s first satellite with a 10Gbps communication capacity successfully carried out a communications test after 30 days in orbit, marking the country’s first verification of low-orbit Q/V/Ka band communications. In the future, “Space Internet” is expected to become an key solution to achieving global 5G or even 6G network coverage.

Chang Ming, who is in charge of the program, said that the satellite has been in good condition after a month in orbit. After the satellite was put into orbit, its attitude maneuver and mode switching were normal according to flight procedures, and its onboard software, integrated electronics and measurement and control system were also functioning properly.

Currently, the GalaxySpace technical team is tracking the satellite’s condition through telemetry at multiple observation and control stations. According to the the first examination report of the satellite, its “health status exceeds expectations”, and both its attitude control accuracy and measurement indicators have positive deviations (beyond standard indicators).

Founded in 2016, the Beijing-based communication satellite provider aims to mass-produce low-cost, high-performance satellites through an agile and fast-iterative development model. Satellite constellations allow assessment, monitoring, transmission and real-time seamless and secure sharing of the status and information on global scale IoT networks.
