Who will pushed nationalist Sri Lankan to the wall, certain not China, indeed if Sri Lanka neighbor try to push it to the wall, China will not only have the civilian port but shall be granted to use as Naval base as well. The journey of thousand miles begins with a single step, we have toke the first step to built port, Indians can use their imagination for the rest of 98 years journey.
You never know the future, if India know how to behave itself Sri Lanka certain will not let China to use as military base, but if India is threatening Sri Lanka's interest such as fishing and other contentious issues, they will have this port as geo-political bargain for 98 years to come.
In democracies, usually it is public demand which forces the rise of a nationalist Government and when pushed to the wall, they have no choice but to take such decisions. Do you know how Egypt with Naseer went to war with UK/France after nationalizing the Suez Canal? Everything is not about India.
