China will not agree to carry out normal cooperation on hydrological data with India unless it agrees to withdraw troops from Doklam,

Beijing: China will not share hydrological data with India until it withdraws its troops from Doklam, an expert at a Chinese think tank has said.

Hu Zhiyong, a research fellow at the Institute of International Relations of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, said China cannot be expected to fulfil its obligation when India has no regards for its neighbour`s sovereignty.

China will not agree to carry out normal cooperation on hydrological data with India unless it agrees to withdraw troops from Doklam, the Global Times quoted him as saying.

The two sides have been engaged in a three-month military stand-off at Doklam in the Sikkim section of the India-China border.

"Although China is a responsible country, we can`t fulfil our obligations to India when it shows no respect to our sovereignty," Hu said.

India on Friday said China had not shared the water related data so far this year.

The Brahmaputra River originates from China`s Tibet and flows flow into Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.

"There is an existing mechanism named India-China Expert-Level mechanism which was started in 2006 to share hydrological data during the flood season for Brahmaputra and Satluj rivers." :rofl:India`s Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar had said.

"Under the MoUs signed in 2013 and 2015, the hydrological data is to be shared between May 15 to October 15 every year, but from May 15 till now, we have no data from China. The last meeting of the mechanism was held in April 2016," he said but held that linking the sharing of hydrological data with heavy floods in the northeast would be premature.

The upper reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo (the upper stream of the Brahmaputra) are in Southwest China`s Tibet Autonomous Region, so China agreed to share hydrological data with India to help it prevent hydrological disasters such as flooding and drought, and carry out cooperation on the development and utilization of hydrological resources, Zhao Gancheng, director of the Center for Asia-Pacific Studies at the Shanghai Institute for International Studies, told the Global Times.

Zhao said India has always voiced concerns over China`s development of the river and tried to hype these projects "in order to incite their people`s anti-China sentiment".

Indians always thought China is bluffing when come to water and they will get it for free for eternity from us  and we will back down to their demand even if they're our enemy . Now the message to India is pretty clear and this is just the beginning, more fun with India come later...stay tune. :pop:

China is just taking a page out of India's book, we will show them a taste of their own medicine: in the pass they like to blackmail China to do concession or else they will side with US and Japan against us. Now it's our turn, we will blackmail them to cede their occupied territory, get out of Dongland and leave Bhutan along for having normalization with China if they wish China to cooperate over our water resource.

And we can keep water to hold India hostage for ever

i feel sorry for the poor indians their governments terrible policy is going to effect the poor man. But its clearly obvious that the most populated country in the world doesn't care if a few thousands of its citizens die due to flooding.

From daily warnings of imposing war on India, if it does not vacate Dokalam... too.. "will not share, data on water flow if it India does not vacate Dokalam".

Ohh... How Chinese rhetoric has fallen flat on its face.

But shameless cheerleaders still haven't given up their poms poms

Water is on our side, India is the one begging us for data, we have no obligation to give a jack to India.

Be realistic, what do India get for this issue? Personally, I think it's a milestone to reshape the south Asia's geopolitics. Due to India's stupid behavior, Inidia just gives a chance for China and those little countries to adjust theirs strategy.
This issue just starts, don't give your conclusion so quickly.

Indian like to claim that if we make them as enemy, they will side with US and Japan against us, we can tell them if they want to make China as enemy, not only they will get nothing such water but prepare a zero sum game, we will make India no room to breath in geo-politic arena, come compete with us if they can and see who will prevail.

That hydrological data is important for India. Now 'lakhs' of innocent Hindus will pay the price for GoI's obstinacy and belligerence by drowning to their deaths.

Seems like Modi is as indifferent to shedding Hindu blood as he is excited to shed Muslim blood.

Actually it is China's stupid behavior, for long China has been salami slicing its neighbors territories, based on prehistoric maps and drawings.

Somewhere, some one has to draw the line and We just did, even if it were for Bhutan.

We are ready to withdraw tomorrow, if China withdraws too and goes back to its original positions.

:omghaha:

Go to bed , kid.
You think "withdraw" is the end of the game? Too young, too simple, sometimes naive.
India just changes a potential friend to enemy. Since we can't build a great Asia together, maybe China need contain India by all means. Your trouble just starts.

I thought China was going to push Indians out of its territory.

Is that another warning, please we have had enough daily warning past two months.

Be our Friend or be an enemy, we don't care, but we will not let you slice any more territory.

Really, have we ever warned you that we don't share data with India? it come with surprise to me too. And don't talk like we care either, you are on your own and tell your government stop bordering us with water data sharing or water sharing.
