According to the agreement, four ships will be constructed in China with the remaining two will be built at Karachi’s Shipyard and Engineering Works under Transfer of Technology.

Last year, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) approved eight development projects worth Rs157 billion, including two signature projects of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-N – first phase of Pakistan-China Economic Corridor (PCEC)

The committee had also approved Rs13.87bn for procurement of six maritime patrol vessels for Pakistan Maritime Security Agency.

Of course the Chinese would! After all it's not about Pakistan. It's about protecting China's port at Gwadar which has been leased out to them by Pakistan for 40 years. So the port effectively belongs to China and thus the need to protect it and the assets therein.

Yes for 40 years, it is under the ownership of China - and China would want to defend its tenure from all ill intentions. Don't be surprised when you find Chinese naval and air-defence assets around in that area and that aligns with our National Interest. Its a WIN-WIN for both countries.

Don't cry...eat a pie. You'd be doing the same with the Chahabar when it can become operational. So why cry over this. By the way, these 6 ships are like Corvettes and littoral protection for the port or may be the 50-100 mile area around it. What you'll see if the Chinese DDG and Subs visiting and refueling all the time. This is China's closes gateway and access corridor to the "warm waters" as the Russian President wanted back when the Afghan war started. So the Chinese will have representation in Gawader at any time IMO.

It ONLY makes sense. The port and the trade route it NOT just Pakistani, it belongs to China too, as 80% of the trade inbound and outbound is based on the Chinese consumer.

The ships are meant for anti-piracy and border security operations. It's hardly aimed at India; No, Pakistan is buying 8 subs, and more F22Ps for defense against India.
