China to evacuate citizens from India amid rising border tension

New Delhi, May 25

China has asked its citizens staying in India and willing to return to register their names with its mission here. Embassy sources said this part of the routine evacuations going on around the world and denied any link with the tensions on the Sino-India border.


Many of those who might want to return to China include students and those who have visa issues. The flights and destinations they will cover are being decided in consultation with the Indian authorities here, added the sources.

The notice says all those willing to be evacuated should register by Wednesday and they should be prepared to pay for their tickets and mandatory 14 days of quarantine in China. It says that students, tourists and businessmen will be allowed to fly back.

I don't encourage war either. I have a feeling China is just pressing to solve the border issue. If push comes to shove, there will be a border war. I hope Pakistan can take advantage of this situation and free Kashmir.

Agree India would never raise arms against someone of the esteem power and size of China. Would be humiliating and tragic to watch India brought to its knees. Lets be honest, dont poke the beast because in return a punch will be delivered with interest. Peaceful dialogue will hopefully bring this tension to a halt.

First and most likely, China is pressurising India to roll back the status of Ladakh to pre-5th Aug Status. China doesn't want to war with India at this time.

One thing both India and China agree on is neither India or China will back down from a real fight. When and if it starts, there'll be a lot of variables that I'm not gonna discuss here. Read those Doklam standoff threads, there's plenty of expert opinions as to why it's never happening and what happens when it happens.
