China is reportedly ordering businesses in a village in the Muslim-majority Xinjiang region to sell alcohol and cigarettes or face being shut down, according to Radio Free Asia.

An April 29 directive instructed restaurant and shop owners in Aktash, a predominantly Muslim Uighur village, to promote the goods in “eye-catching displays,” RFA reported. It’s considered a sin to consume alcohol under Islam.

“All restaurants and supermarkets in our village should place five different brands of alcohol and cigarettes in their shops before [May 1, 2015],” local authorities announced, according to the report. “Anybody who neglects this notice and fails to act will see their shops sealed off, their business suspended, and legal action pursued against them.”

The announcement was signed by the Aktash village Party Committee of Laskuy Township, which stated that the goal of the initiative was to increase “convenience” to the public.

But Aktash village party committee secretary Adil Sulayman told RFA that the policy aimed “to weaken religion here.”

China has faced terrorist attacks believed to have been carried out by Uighur militants, including knife attacks and vehicular assaults on pedestrians.

The Washington Post noted that China has blamed foreign Muslim groups for inspiring Chinese Muslims via social media postings to wage jihad.

Last year, Chinese authorities removed dozens of children from Muslim madrassas in Xinjiang – the same province of last week’s reported alcohol sale announcement.

. . . . .
Selling alcohol and cigarettes is quick money in China and store owners often need to bribe officials from the relevant authorities to get the licence or permit。

Forcing our Muslim brothers and sisters to sell alchol and cigarettes?

That simply does not make any sense for the Hans。

And what can the government possibly gain from such a move?

Radio Free Asia is a pile of cow sh1t。

so after banning burkas and beards, confiscating Uighurs' passports, forcing them to eat during ramzan, banning the hijab from being shown on tv, and holding a beer festival in Xinjiang.. now this.

@Zarvan any thoughts ?

@Chinese-Dragon What is going on here bro? How someone can chose for me what to sell and what not?

The original source for all this "news" from Xinjiang is "Radio Free Asia", an American propaganda source set up by their own US Congress in 1994.

And none of their stories can be "confirmed".

It doesn't even make sense, how could forcing a shopkeeper to sell alcohol achieve anything?

But no doubt many people will believe it, no matter how illogical it sounds. Just because it was spoken by Americans.

The question is not how and why someone can chose for me what to sell, but why are Muslims in China being 'force fed' to go against their religious tenets?

Why no protest from Pakistan? Oh well, no prizes for guessing why! :azn:

I have to give them credit, the Americans are now the true masters of Sun Tzu's Art of War.

They can sell any story, no matter how ludicrous, and people will believe them.

They can tear a burning path through the Middle East, invading Iraq over fake WMD and leading to the deaths of over 1 million innocent Iraqi Muslims, then all they have to do is snap their fingers, and point at China. Suddenly we are the bad guys, the real persecutors of Muslims. Because Radio Free Asia says we told Muslim shopkeepers to sell alcohol, a story which can't be "confirmed" but who cares about whether it is true or not. Or even if it makes sense or not.

Radio Free Asia
I was surprised that some people believed this kind of rubbish ,
When did it tell the truth?
