Do you think Russia is selling Nuke Subs & Brahmos to India to confront US or China?

Russia lease nuke sub and sell Brahmos mostly to make money out of India and to have leverage over India to buy even more Russia military equipment's, as how India will use its is not Russia's problem .

Russia selling Oil & Gas to China could be termed purely financial but selling arms could have financial benefits but that would not be the primary reason. Even Venezuela sells O&G to US.

China will have Russia as all weather friend as Pakistan in the long run: in UN we back each other up against US and EU pressure on international issues and support each other on economy, energy and in US's backyard. The irrelevant India is just sit quietly at the corner and watch how P5 is playing.

Leasing nuclear sub is not equal as given India their nuclear sub technology;
Join Venture on Brahmos is not equal to give India the key technology such as engine, India can only do what is irrelevant to Russia;
Offer high end technology is not equal to TOT nuclear sub reator to India
Join Venture Fak/FA is equal to let India doing the paint job which Indian airforce is very deceived

Russia is doing that for money and I repeat that again all these points you mention are relevant in 1970s to 1990s because Soviet want to counter China but not today because Russia has offered China similar deals or better such join their PAK/Fa, Strategic bomber, Aircraft carrier but we have turned down their offer.

Sure I'n not denying that Russia still India's friend but Indo-Russia today in 2017 is not Indo-Russia of 1970s to 1990s.

A survey released on Monday has revealed that Russian citizens see China as the country's closest ally and best friend.

The Russia-based Public Opinion Foundation reported that 62 percent considered this to be the case, with Belarus (60 percent) dropping to second place having topped the chart for the previous three years. Meanwhile, Ukraine came bottom of the ranking, ahead of last year's last placed country, the United States

For the fourth straight year, Russian respondents believed that cooperation with China is crucial for the Russian economy and that its Asian neighbour is their most valuable partner.

In terms of the reasoning behind China’s importance to Russia, a third of respondents were of the opinion that “China is a rapidly developing country with great economic opportunities”, while a quarter thought that the two countries “have close economic cooperation with many contracts concluded, and that Russia has a great trade relationship with China.”

Meanwhile, China and Japan tied fifth in a poll to discover the most attractive tourism destination for Russians, behind Italy, France and Germany.

The annual survey, which was launched in 2014, interviewed 1,500 Russian citizens aged 18 and over.

So shining India is not the close ally and best friend of Russia ..

Their real problem is the Chinese. This is something NATO has been saying for god knows how long and the Russian's keep putting up this face that "yes we are..blah blah blah...we are keeping troops and missiles on borders with Europe anyway". What a stupid game they are playing. Wasting our time...faking a big Western threat when they are really worried about the East.

NATO should publicly call them out on this. Half the Russian population would probably want to cross the border.
