Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi has expressed his country’s support to the Republic of Cyprus’ sovereign rights, the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions on Famagusta, and efforts to resume negotiations for a Cyprus settlement, based on UN resolutions and decisions.

Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou said that in a meeting on Monday at UN headquarters, President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades and Wang Yi discussed bilateral relations, developments in the Cyprus problem, Turkey’s threats regarding Famagusta, and Turkish provocations in Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone.

The meeting was also attended by Prodromou, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Christodoulides, Cyprus’ Permanent Representative to the UN Andreas Mavroyiannis and other officials.

Prodromou said Wang Yi conveyed the Chinese President’s satisfaction over the meeting he had in Beijing with President Anastasiades, noting that his country considers the Republic of Cyprus to be a trustworthy and important partner, and a junction for international, financial and other relations.

President Anastasiades informed Wang Yi about the continuing violations and illegal actions of Turkey in Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone and its continental shelf, the threats and the schemes which are in contrast with UN Security Council decisions on Famagusta. He also referred to UN efforts to resume negotiations and the obstacles posed by Turkey.

Prodromou noted that the Chinese Minister expressed his country’s support to the Republic of Cyprus’ sovereign rights and referred to UN Security Council decisions on Famagusta, which he said must be implemented. He also assured China supports efforts for the resumption of negotiations with an aim to reach a solution on the basis of UN resolutions and decisions.

Furthermore, President Anastasiades and Wang Yi agreed to continue contacts with an aim to further develop bilateral relations and intensify their international role.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third.

Speaking for this part of the world, China or Bolivia or Ghana's supports for N.Cyprus have equal weight against Turkey.

How about we give them some money and weapons for free?

First stop begging loans from China

I think Pakistan should support (and give a voice to) Northern Cyprus more freely to counteract China’s revenge politics.
No besides you think the PRC is gonna send the PLA or PLAAN to help the Cypriots Pakistanis are deluded in this manner Northern Cyprus is stalemate I doubt there would be war there anytime soon just geo political tussle I rather see reunification of the island or at least a partition

Turkey is not the center of the earth for Pakistan. Why shall they poke into Cyprus business?

Turkey is our last Khilafat, which was the Muslim Pope.

Yes, they are the center of the Islamic world for religious Muslims and those loyal to the Islamic cause.

Better for China not to antagonize our Turkish blood brothers and sisters.

You still failed to understand how, Turkish-Pakistani relations works I think. Pakistan even today doesnt regornise Armenia for Turkey and Azerbaijan, and we are supporting them with weapons to political statements... In a war time we will be the first ones who send free weapons and money to them. Now I hope this relation will countinue. We dont care what China thinks. You have zero power in this part of world. And about giving money and free weapons I hope you understand it works for both ways...

I actually agree the Pakistani mindset revolves like this "say nice flattering statements" about us "iron brother" or "or Turkish bhai or whatever gets the idiotic Pakistanis on the train ever wondered why Pakistan has been licking Arab asses for decades sorry but I do love my homeland but some my people really have this inferioty complex some love Iran more some love Turkey more some love Saudi more some love China more etc but never Pakistan or its fake love again goes into Government failure of creating a cohesive identity and ignoring historical heritage in our lands

The only reason why we are nice with You Turks is because of the Cold War era CENTO nothing else I dont hate Turkey at all in fact I admire your guys having a nationalistic base of people not licking Arabs or Iranians etc not in complex to ape other types of people as for Armenia I think its kinda stupid on our part having ties of course I am all for supporting Azerbaijan with weapons and diplomatic support but having no ties with Yerevan and country so small and a Russian puppet just does not make sense

Khilafet gone long ago, you know. We don't need a leader in Muslim world, we need stronger bonds than ever. We need to support each other.

If this 98 in your nickname stands for you birth year, we too have new generation teenagers who has no knowledge about our relations between us. You are not nice with us, we are nice with each other and this relation goes deeper than you think or cold war era.

Still, if this 98 is not your birth year even, it shows you lack of knowledge which is more sad.

There are many Muslim countries fight against each other or non Muslim countries, do you want your country to get involved in all of them? Turkey itself has fights with many countries, Muslim's and non Muslims, is that wise for Pakistan to antagonize all of them, and some of them actually helped Pakistan big time even very recently.

I disagree. Britain and Iran and Iraq were all members of CENTO, why we dont have this relations with them? Actually it is simple from our perspective. We Turks, we are good at not to forget things, the good things and bad things... And we are always ready to pay... for the good things and bad things. Pakistan was a trustworthy ally from the beginning, from Ottomans to today, (Pakistani women send their golds in Turkish War of Indepence) you didnt betray us. As far as I know, Not even once. Thats why we are ready to pay... Otherwise, CENTRO or Ummah doesnt mean anything. We even secretly give you spare parts in US saction, you think we would do that for Iraq?
About Armenia... Armenia is a tiny state wilhout even a real economy. They sactioned by Turkey and Azerbaijan because of Karabag so today Armenia is just a village not even a real state. Thats why ignoring them doesnt make any damage to Pakistan. Sure you can regornise them, but believe me Pakistan is not gonna gain anything from this tiny state...
Today they are begging Turkey for trade, but first they will give Karabag back and forget all this so called genocide well otherwise, I told you we are not good at forgetting things.

We still are allies of Turkey and will never abandon Turks, who have stood behind us at every junction.

Pakistanis and Turks are two parallel nations who have undergone the same historical experiences and have finally achieved some maturity of thought and vision.

We represent the vanguard of Islamic civilization, which has internalized the spirit of the Ghazi (warrior saint,) and is devotedly loyal to our faith, ancestors, and divine mission.

North Cyprus represents the Islamic civilization of the island, which invader Greeks tried to erase through genocide and theft.

Every Muslim should stand behind them, and also Nagorno-Karabakh, Kosovo, and Bosnia.

We exclude here self-absorbed materialistic neo-jahiliyyah empires seeking to bring back Persian and Arab racial dominance, namely Iran and Gulf Arabs who have no qualms with supporting open enemies of Islam.

I hope China shows maturity, because this can backfire very quickly.
