China - Sri Lanka to boost military ties
China will make joints efforts with Sri Lanka to push the military relations between the two countries to a new high, a high ranking Chinese defense official said.
Fang Fenghui, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of China and chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has said that the Chinese military is willing to make joint efforts with the Sri Lankan military to strengthen the military relationship between the two countries.
He has said this when Sri Lanka's Navy Commander Vice Admiral Jayantha Colombage called on the Chinese military leader in Beijing.
The visit has strengthened the relations between Sri Lanka and China which maintain close, cordial and mutually supportive relations in a number of fields.
PLA Navy offers advanced and specialized training to SL Navy personnel and both forces have friendly relations which reflect their professional commitments.
Noting that China and Sri Lanka share traditional friendship Fang has said that in recent years, the mutual political trust has been constantly enhanced and the bilateral contacts in such fields as humanities as well as economy and trade have been increasingly closer.
He has said that he Chinese military is willing to make joint efforts with the Sri Lankan military to strengthen high-level contacts, and deepen pragmatic cooperation and innovate exchange forms, so as to push forward the relations between the two militaries to a new high.
