chinas football is sitll a jokeyo(︶︿︶)o

Yep we are not doing too well in football. It is still far from meeting our expectations

Last night we registered a slim 1-0 win over Indonesia in the AFC Asian Cup qualifier. We had several very near miss chances. A 2-0 scoreline should be fair for the boys.

The win, however small it was, is good enough for our qualification for the Finals of the AFC Asian Cup when we will be having our real tests against the Asian big boys like Japan, S Korea, Australia, Iran.

It is not about the money that the players are getting.

There are serious ground works that we have to work on. The basics, and also the corruption issues.

The money spent by us is too little.

Real madrid spends 30 million as a minimum now. Breaking records for fun. Just spend 100 million on not even the best player.

Our player's wages are not 5-15 million euros a year. How can this be attractive to potential players.

We must up the wage of our players to have the best team.

Lippi is a nice move though.

Really who wants to pay so much for people who play a kids game? Athletes do not provide services that make a strong nation. Money should be spent on engineers, scientists, R&D, military and education.

Fxxk the high paying athletes.

HONG KONG - Chinese golf sensation Guan Tianlang is set to shine at the Hong Kong Golf Open, which will be held from December 5 to 8 in Fanling.

The youngster only turned 15 last month, but his appearance at the Hong Kong Golf Club will bring down the curtain for a year that even Hollywood's finest writers could not have scripted.

Having qualified for this year's Masters Tournament by winning the 2012 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, Guan made a figure in the golf world by becoming the youngest player in history to make the cut in a Major Championship and finishing 58th at Augusta National.

The eye-catching performance ensured Guan a level of celebrity that most professionals would be proud of as he secured invitations to play in a further four PGA Tour events before returning to China in August to resume his studies and practice schedule.

Guan will then make a long-waited return to the world stage at the Hong Kong Golf Club where Miguel Angel Jimenez will defend his title.

"I am thrilled to have been invited to play in as prestigious an event as the Hong Kong Open," said Guan. "This year has just been an incredible journey for me. Making the cut at the Masters was a very special achievement for me and I hope to be able to produce a similar performance at the Hong Kong Golf Club in December."

"When you get the opportunity to play against world class players you can't refuse because it is the best environment to learn and gain experience and I would love to play all four rounds at the Hong Kong Golf Club," added Guan.

Joining Guan at the Hong Kong Open will the country's another most promising young talents, Hak Shun-Yat.

It was in November 2008 when Hak, aged 14 years and 304 days, made history as the youngest player to make the cut in a European Tour event at the Hong Kong Open.

That record has since been reset by Guan's cut-making performance at the Masters (aged 14 years and 169 days).

Hak was part of the Hong Kong men's team which claimed the silver medal in China's National Games this September, and he will be hoping to continue that form at Fanling in the first week of December.

Co-sanctioned by the European and Asian Tours, the Hong Kong Open will be the third tournament in the 2014 Race to Dubai and will be the 13th stage since it became part of the European Tour in 2002.

Liang over Prom in playoff at first Manila Masters|Golf|chinadaily.com.cn

MANILA, Philippines - China's Liang Wenchong beat Thailand's Prom Meesawat in a playoff to win the inaugural Manila Masters on Sunday, in an event which proceeded despite the ongoing humanitarian crisis in neighboring areas of the Philippines from Typhoon Haiyan.

Prom had the clubhouse lead after shooting a final-round 65 but Liang sank a birdie on the 18th hole to draw level at 16-under 272.

On the playoff hole, Prom found a bunker while Liang had a tap-in birdie to clinch the win.

Canada's Richard Lee had a final-round 64 to finish in a tie for third with Spain Carlos Pigem, while 17-year-old Thai Jazz Janewattananond, who led the first two rounds, closed with a 69 to be among four players with a share of fifth place.

MANILA, Philippines -- Liang Wen-chong won the inaugural Manila Masters in a playoff Sunday, and then donated half of his earnings to help victims from Typhoon Haiyan.

The Asian Tour staged the tournament despite the ongoing humanitarian crisis in neighboring areas of the Philippines.

Liang birdied the final hole for a 3-under 69 to force a playoff with Prom Meesawat of Thailand. In the playoff, Meesawat found a bunker on the par-5 closing hole. Liang rolled his long eagle attempt to within inches of the cup for a tap-in birdie and the win.

Liang earned $135,000, and said he was giving half of it away to relief efforts.

"Before coming over to the Philippines, I was really affected by what I saw of the damage and victims suffering from the aftermath of the typhoon on television," Liang said on the Asian Tour's website. "I've decided to donate 50 percent of my winnings to do my part and support the relief efforts."

The Asian Tour decided to go through with the tournament at the Southwoods Golf and Country Club after consulting with local golf associations, authorities and relief agencies. Chief executive Mike Kerr said the tour felt the best way it could help was by staging the competition and supporting aid and relief programs.

Agreed, whoever the fxxk paid david beckham millions for his 4 day "football ambassador" duty earlier this year should be shot.
