China Premier says respects Ukraine integrity, won't be drawn on Crimea| Reuters
BEIJING Sun Mar 15, 2015 1:12am EDT

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said on Sunday that his government respected the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, but would not be drawn on whether China considers Crimea to be Ukraine's or Russia's.

"On the issue of Ukraine, China has adopted an objective and just position. We respect Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity," Li told a news conference at the end of the annual meeting of parliament, adding that he had recently told this to Ukraine's president.

"At the same time, the Ukraine issue has added to the complexity of the geopolitical situation and has affected the process of the global economic recovery. We still hope that this issue can be resolved via dialogue, negotiations and consultations," Li added.

"As for Crimea, there are complicated contributing factors. We also hope that it can be resolved politically via dialogue and hope that neighbors can peacefully coexist," he said, when asked about China's position on who owns Crimea.

China and Russia see eye-to-eye on many international diplomatic issues, but Beijing has been careful not to be drawn into the struggle between Russia and the West over Ukraine's future, not wanting to alienate a key ally in Moscow.

It has said it would like to continue to develop "friendly cooperation" with Ukraine, and repeatedly said it respects the ex-Soviet state's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

China has also shown little interest in getting involved in diplomatic efforts to end the crisis.

Nonetheless, Chinese officials have said that Western powers should take into consideration Russia's legitimate security concerns over Ukraine.

Russia annexed Crimea last year.

Crimea belongs to the people of Crimea. Since Ukraine does not allow dual citizenship, the people of Crimea are Russian citizens. Therefore, Russian citizens own Crimea. :enjoy:

Are you really Chinese? because you seem to be always supporting Russia even more than your home country.:what:

Chinese Canadian :china:

Then why is it that you always blindly support Russia even more than Russian citizens/members themselves on here?lool Knowing Russia's history of taking over large parts of your home country territory, its rather puzzling to say the least.lol:what: You can favour them for strategic reasons, which is understandable, but acting as if they are some kind of innocent/saint/never aggressive country is rather strange. Seems you are an even bigger fan of Moscow than your country of origin. weird.....

Because China and Russia are brother nations and their common enemy is the US just like Iraq and Syria are brother nations and their common enemy is ISIS :china:

China is big enough. We don't need any more land from anyone.

As for Ukraine's integrity, it is ambiguous. Even if Ukraine is left with nothing but Kiev, China can still say China respects Ukraine's integrity which only consists of Kiev.

LOOL I never knew China and Russia were brothers when Russia was part of the 7 nation alliance that invaded and looted your country and later even threatened to nuke you people in the late 60s ...LMAO. Good to know now though. Good for you then. Lets drink to your brotherhood.

8 nations alliance. Yes it is true that Russia invaded China. Over 400,000 American soldiers died fighting Japan and Germany, now they are allies. Over 50,000 American soldiers died fighting Vietnam, now they are friends. China and Russia were yesterday's enemies, are today's brothers.
