China new Light Tank (mountain tank) in field test

I think it's necessary to open a new thread about new Light Tank.

It has 105mm gun around 30t (Type 62 only 21t). Easily be deployed by air transport, even possible 2 tanks or 1 tank+ 1 IFV in one C-17 size transporter. In west china, where road density is low, large areas are consisted with terrain that is unreachable for wheeled vehicles. And there are also mountain/water regions in west/south China where ZTZ-96A MBT is still too large/heavy.

It is most likely Type 99A2 light tank.

Type 62 and Type 63 light tanks are retired or in the process of being retired. ZBD2000 are amphibious and developed for the marines, and unsuited for extended land operations. Type 96 and Type 99 are too heavy for terrain in Southern China and Tibetan plateau, hence the need for a new light tank.

I am guessing the new tank is roughly 30 tons in weight and carries a 105mm main gun. I doubt 125mm gun would be used due to weight issue.
