Last time indian military used DJI Phantom 3 to spy Pakistan.
I estimated long ago in PDF they would one day upgrade existing devices.
There it is, now DJI Phantom 4 Pro!

China-made hi-tech drones seized in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: Ten drones that can fly at 6,000 metres with a half-kg payload and are equipped with an advanced satellite navigation system were seized from a passenger at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, last week. Experts warn that the high-end DJI Phantom-4 PRO drones can pose a serious security threat, and authorities have commenced a probe into the matter, conducting searches in Bengaluru and Chennai following the seizure.

Unlike most drones available in India, the China-made DJI Phantom-4 PRO is an intelligent vehicle that can act by itself upon finding obstacles and also comes equipped with an intelligent battery system, besides having an advanced satellite navigation system compatible with GPS and the Russian GLobal NAvigation Satellite System (GLONASS).

It can live-stream hi-definition images and videos - which can be recorded from as far as two kilometres - and can be geo-located from anywhere. Sources in the intelligence wing and scientists and experts working on India's national UAV programme said that the specifications indicate the DJI Phantom-4 PRO is an ideal vehicle to carry out urban recce and surveillance missions. Besides, the fact that it can carry a payload adds to the threat perception.

What has caught experts' attention is that the drone has a "Tap-by-Use" feature, which allows users to tap on an individual in a crowd on his screen and allowing the drone to lock and track the person.

"Such a machine certainly poses threats. The lock-and-track feature is especially dangerous when we speak of VIP movement. The height the drone can achieve is another concern. The machine is small and at its maximum height it won't even be visible unless we look for it specifically," K Ramachandra of the National Mission for Micro Air Vehicles (MAV) said.

The seizure comes even as sensitive Indian Air Force establishments in Bengaluru and other parts of South India have been actively pursuing leads on threats from flying objects - drones and gliders - following an alert from the IAF Southern Command. Investigators told TOI that they are yet to ascertain the end user of the drones.

Guys, do not use DJI drones for spying, it is highly unprofessional and naive.

Alleged Indian ‘spy’ drone shot down by Pakistan is ‘China made DJI phantom 3’: Chinese state media
In an embarrassing disclosure for Pakistan, Chinese official media on Saturday reported that the “spy” drone Pakistani army shot down along the LoC, claiming it belonged to Indian security forces, was made in China.

The drone was “recognised in Beijing as the Chinese made DJI phantom 3,” the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC)-run People’s Daily said in a report on its website.

Quoting Shanghai-based Observer website, the report said that the Phantom 3 advanced drone represents the most intelligent, most powerful, and most accessible drone to date.

Observer says the drone sells for USD 1,200 each.

DJI is a Chinese technology company founded in 2006 by Frank Wang and headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong.

The firm manufactures commercial and recreational unmanned aerial vehicles for aerial photography and videography, it said.

The People’s Daily report confirming the Chinese identity of the drone may put Pakistan military in a spot considering the close and strategic ties between Islamabad and Beijing.

The Indian Army and the Indian Air Force (IAF) had already denied the allegations.

Questioning the Pakistani allegations, Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar had said the “photograph of the drone in question indicates that it’s not of Indian design, nor of any UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) category held in the inventory of the Indian armed forces.

“It appears to be of Chinese design, and is commercially available off-the-shelf.”

India’s rebuttal came as tension escalated along the LoC, following firing and mortar shelling by Pakistani forces. Indian forces have responded to the Pakistani action.

I am just wondering, since DJI has launched a series of industrial drones, one is used in agriculture to spray pesticide. Is there any possibility that in 2018 indian army will secretly buy some units to spray poisonous compound?

Then, the infamous indian media will say, look, it's not our fault, it's a Made-in-China drone!

Farmers are required to manage acres of farmland at a time, and have recently begun to tap into aerial technology to do so efficiently and sustainably. DJI MG-1S revolutionizes the way in which farmers can utilize drones to manage and take care of their crops.

In this video, three individuals in the agricultural drone industry speak of their experiences with DJI's MG-1S and tell us why it stands out amongst the UAV choices when considering factors of precision, effectiveness, intuitiveness, ease of use, safety, build and more.

Technology is great.
DJI drones are great, loved by drone fans around the world.
But if it is immorally used by irresponsible party, well, it does not really become a serious weapon,
it simply becomes a LAUGHING STOCK!

Lol the poor guy got ripped off by stupid delusional indians.
Indian authority seriously considers DJI drones as potential weapon, as shown in the above-mentioned spying incident.
If they themselves have ever used DJI drone for spying, of course they have concerns about being spied by DJI drones.
It is understandable from their point of view.
We shall respect them with a sense of humour.

Most people use DJI drones for fun though, as how people shoot videos at K2 in Pakistan and elsewhere.

That is amazing use of drones.
Would love to see detailed video, as this one does not mention of refilling the tank, as the current tank seems fit to spray a smaller area.

If at all it comes to commercial manufacturing, rest assure it will attract many users in india and world wide.

.
i think it's just some amateur Indian fans buying it. Indian military UAV is much less advanced than our off the shelf UAVS.
That's a point.
It seems that DJI drone is way more powerful in terms of spying than their own military UAV (do they have any proper and functioning models? )

How about the new mini but powerful drone Mavic Pro?

@GS Zhou You have lots of drones and have shown us your own amazing videos.
If you have to choose one DJI drone for spying or other military use, which one will you choose?

(@GS Zhou I know it's absurd and simply stupid to use DJI drones in the army!)

F....it's so compact. I think if you use militaey grade components, you can put it for military use. I think DJI has got a military arm for China.

.
Yep, DJI, See Everything.
Everything includes another country's army bases of course......

DJI drone is supported by an entire supply chain in and around Shenzhen.
It is the best commercial drone for a reason.
I guess DJI drones have surpassed supa powa military drones in many ways....
Their military is famous for hating their own products, they always import.
When something goes wrong (like shot down by Pakistani army), they would shout, it is not our product, not our fault!
