With firms looking to begin 5G roll outs next year, China is planning to start work on 6G. Su Xin, head of the IMT-2020 working group of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that a concept study has already started and that research and development work is due to start in 2020 ahead of a commercial launch in 2030.

There has been talk from the likes of EE that it’ll be launching a home router based on 5G instead of traditional methods due to the fast speeds that are possible over 5G, estimates range from 1 – 10 Gbps. According to Securities Times, the proposed 6G network could deliver speeds of up to 1Tbps. While that sort of speed seems like overkill today, it’s not clear what sort of media formats we’ll have in the future and they could be much larger in terms of their file size.

Su Xin also claimed that 6G could enable “full coverage of ground and space … to achieve true ubiquitous information transfer between any device” by using satellites to broadcast the mobile signal. It’s not clear if this would actually make it into the final product but it could make things a bit expensive if satellites need putting into orbit.

Last week, IDC reported that 5G infrastructure will bring in revenues of up to $26 billion in 2022 alone. With that sort of money, players such as Nokia, Samsung, and Ericsson will be able to invest heavily in developing 6G during the next decade.

Huawei predicted that there would be 100 billions connections of IOT Internet of things in 2025 or 2028 in CHINA.
Somethings like this:When you start to take off from your work, you car is starting to warm up and is selecting the music you like to prepare for you and predict the driving line for you on real time, and during your driving, your home robot machine is preparing foods and drinks for you,and cleaning robots are cleaning your appartment and send the gabbage bags out sutomatically and prepare everythings you need and may also take footage or record the TV show you missed yesteday, more and more smart and confortable for you as you please.

Chinese experts set foot in 6G research

2019-01-04 08:51:30 Xinhua Editor : Wang Fan

Southeast University in eastern China's Jiangsu Province said Thursday that a team has begun to research 6G mobile networks.

You Xiaohu, a professor with the university and the team leader, said they have set sights on the early research and development of 6G mobile networks, based on the 5G technologies.

You said that compared with 5G technologies, 6G will cover a wider range of fields with higher speed and greater security. The early research and development will mainly focus on intelligent mobile communications, massive wireless communications, millimeter wave/submillimeter wave wireless communications, optical wireless communications and broadband satellite mobile communications.

"There's still a long way to go in applying 6G technologies into our daily life. Experts predict that 6G technologies will go into commercial operation by 2030. However, the 6G competition has already begun among many enterprises," You said.

China to accelerate research on digital infrastructure: official
Source: Xinhua| 2020-04-20 00:47:30

BEIJING, April 19 (Xinhua) -- China will step up efforts to expedite technological research on the construction and application of digital infrastructure, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

More support should be provided to the research and development of 5G enhancement technology and 6G technology, while the accurate matching of innovation, industrial, capital and policy chains should be promoted, said Chen Zhaoxiong, vice minister of the MIIT.

Chen also stressed the importance of emphasizing the huge demand for digital transformation and improving new digital infrastructure to facilitate economic and social upgrade of the country.

The MIIT will take a string of measures to optimize industrial development, such as expediting construction of 5G and industrial internet connecting people, machine and things, developing new types of intelligent computing facilities, advancing orderly construction and application of large data centers while upgrading micro and small data centers, enriching application scenarios and building a network security system.

On May 17, China Unicom and ZTE Corporation signed a 6G joint strategic cooperation agreement.

According to the strategic cooperation agreement, the two sides will give full play to their respective innovation advantages in the 6G field, jointly explore the 6G target vision and technology trends, and carry out research on potential key technologies of 6G systems.

China Unicom said that China Unicom and ZTE are long-term partners, with in-depth cooperation and fruitful achievements in network technology.

On the one hand, the two sides will promote cooperation around 6G technology innovation and standards, and on the other hand, they will actively promote the deep integration of 6G with satellite networks, Internet of Things, car networks, industrial Internet, to realize the expansion of operator services and services.

ZTE Corporation said it will spare no effort to continue to promote its strategic cooperation with Unicom for the 6G network in 2030. The two companies will conduct research on key 6G high potential technologies, including air-space integration technology, terahertz communication technology, and visible light communication technology.

The two companies will also verify their technical feasibility through testing and trials to achieve the 6G network performance targets of 1Tbps peak data rate, 20Gbps subscriber data rate, 100Gbps/m3 service capacity and other KPIs.

2020 to 2023 will be a research window for 6G network requirements, architecture and enabling technologies.

China Unicom and ZTE will build on their experience and technology accumulation in large-scale commercial networks to contribute more and stronger innovative technologies to the long-term evolution of global 6G networks.

Xiaomi is getting ready for 6G
Although 5G phones are just starting to go mainstream this year, Xiaomi has already started pre-research into the next generation of mobile connectivity, according to the smartphone company’s co-founder and chairman Lei Jun.

This wasn’t the first time Jun mentioned 6G. In May, during China’s annual legislative meetings known as the Two Sessions, the entrepreneur prepared four proposals for China’s next five-year plan. One of them is making satellite internet a strategic industry by including private companies, which would be a step toward developing 6G communications.

Jun later clarified that Xiaomi has no plans to launch satellites itself. But as he told local media on Sunday, 6G will require devices that support the base stations and satellites behind the new wireless standard.

But the concept of what 6G is remains vague, with no set standards defining it. Still, 6G is slowly becoming a buzzword among Chinese tech firms. Other companies already looking into 6G are telecom equipment maker ZTE and China Telecom, one of China’s three state-owned telecom carriers, which signed an agreement in May to research 6G together.

Both smartphone maker Oppo and Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei have also signaled their interest in the tech. China first started looking into 6G in 2018, making it one of the first countries to do so.

1 TB should be special case, especially backbone.

I predict 6G may involve thousands of LEO satellite on remote region or LEO satellite to aircraft.
