China-Laos railway achieves tech breakthrough

U should feel shamefully when posting too.much stupid thing like: PLA "the second most powerful military force on Earth" while PLA just sit and watch and didnt dare to save Cnese in 2014 riots

If Cnese leaders learned Confucius properly, then VN-CN war/conflicts would never happen
People with NO MENTAL ILLNESS WILL NEVER glorify or celebrate the killing of INNOCENT CIVILIANS whether in a RIOT or otherwise.
We should all feel SHAME instead.
Similar to how we are indignant when innocents are killed in Kashmir by the barbaric Indian Occupiers.

So my calling you a STUPID MENTALLY ILL ASSHOLE should be agreed to be correct by all reasonable minded members here and is not a personal insult.

But many Cnese r happy to see CN warship killed VN soldiers in 1988 incident.

VN soldiers only had Ak 47 while CN warship had cannon. Canon vs Ak 47 is just like CN thug killing unarmed VN civilians.

Why not asking for surrender when Ak 47 can not damage the warship ?.

Its OK to be happy for a Military Victory, but not the killing to achieve that victory.
How can you compare soldiers in combat with INNOCENT CIVILIANS caught up in a racial riot?

Many examples are in this forum where members were admonished by their own countrymen for showing joy when Indian Soldiers died in tragedies, not combat, even though many attrocities were commited by these Indian Soldiers.

We should not express glee in the killing of animals or humans, combatants or not.
DEFINITELY NOT WHEN INNOCENT CIVILIANS ARE KILLED.
You better go see a doctor, or did you forget your meds?
End of discussion.

The China-Laos railway project has started interviewing local job applicants for future operation since Thursday.

At the Confucius Institute of the National University of Laos in capital Vientiane, 330 Lao young talents attended the interview for the recruitment of trainees for the railway's operation period on Thursday, organized by the Laos-China Railway Co., Ltd.(LCRC), a joint venture based in Vientiane, in charge of the railway's construction and operation.

The LCRC told Xinhua on Friday that, the company will maximize the recruitment of local staff to increase local employment. The company is to recruit over 600 trainees to assume the positions of locomotive drivers, locomotive maintenance personnel, infrastructure maintenance personnel, station attendants and train crews, etc.

After passing the interview, the trainees will receive Chinese language education and professional railway theory training, and will be sent to China's Kunming for on-site practical training and expected to return to Laos in August, 2021 for pre-job skills training to prepare for the opening of the China-Laos Railway in December 2021.

The company has selected 450 from 1,340 Lao candidates for interview at the end of May, with 330 in Vientiane and 120 in Luang Prabang, and plans to recruit 310 of them.

According to Xiao Qianwen, general manager of the Laos-China Railway Co., Ltd., the recruitment and training of Lao employees is a key step for the railway's sustainable development, which has been attached great importance by the Lao government and the company.

Xiao also said, by now, the construction of the railway project is steadily advancing, shifting from offline civil engineering to online engineering and station building; by the end of 2020, the company will gradually switch from engineering construction to operation management. The recruitment of the Lao employees is laying a sound foundation for the coming operation period.

The China-Laos Railway is a strategic docking project between the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and Laos' strategy to convert from a landlocked country to a land-linked hub.

The 414-km railway, with 198-km tunnels and 62-km bridges, will run from Boten border gate in northern Laos, bordering China, to Vientiane with an operating speed of 160 km per hour.

The electrified passenger and cargo railway is built with the full application of Chinese management and technical standards.

The project started in December 2016 and is scheduled to be completed and open to traffic in December 2021.

Construction of China-Laos railway's Vientiane station starts
Source: Xinhua| 2020-07-03 19:39:20|

VIENTIANE, July 3 (Xinhua) -- The groundbreaking ceremony for the Vientiane station of the China-Laos Railway was held on Friday in the northern outskirts of the Lao capital.

The Vientiane station, to be built by China Railway Construction Group Co., Ltd. (CRCG), will consist of four platforms with seven track lines and two additional platforms with three lines reserved.

With a construction area of 14,543 square meters, the station can hold maximum 2,500 passengers, according to the Laos-China Railway Co., Ltd.(LCRC), a Vientian-based joint venture in charge of the railway's construction and operation.

The station was designed under the concept of "City of Sandalwood (original meaning of the word Vientiane), Friendship between Laos and China," integrating the cultural traditions and national temperament of the two countries in a modern traffic architecture, according to an LCRC press release.

The station was designed to be a people-oriented, green and environmentally friendly one, said the company.

Xiao Qianwen, the LCRC general manager, said during the groundbreaking ceremony that the construction of the China-Laos Railway project has been progressing steadily, with the civil engineering being 90 percent completed, and the focus now is station engineering and operation preparation.

During a critical time when heavy construction tasks are coupled with COVID-19 epidemic prevention, the engineering companies should focus on the construction of station buildings, maintain high quality and strengthen safety management and organization.

Head of the Laos-China Railway Project Management Committee under the Lao Ministry of Public Works and Transport Chantula Phanalasy said the Laos-China railway will drive economic development, improve the living standards of the Lao people, promote the economic cooperation between Laos and China and contribute to the cooperation and exchanges between China and southeast Asian countries.

The railway will serve as a link between Laos and neighboring countries and the international railway network, said Chantula, adding that the Vientiane station is the largest passenger station of the Laos-China railway, and it is expected to connect with the follow-up railways planned by the Lao side.

The China-Laos Railway is a strategic docking project between the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and Laos' strategy to convert from a landlocked country to a land-linked hub.

The 422-km railway, with 198-km tunnels and 62-km bridges, will run from Boten border gate in northern Laos bordering China, to Vientiane with an operating speed of 160 km per hour.

The electrified passenger and cargo railway is built with the full application of Chinese management and technical standards, with its construction starting in December 2016 and scheduled to be completed and open to traffic in December 2021.

Laos should look to Sri Lanka, where Hambantota Port was built by China under former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. When Rajapaksa faced an electoral challenge in 2015, money earmarked for the port’s construction somehow found its way into the president’s campaign coffers. In the end, Rajapaksa lost the election, and the port proved so unprofitable that the new government was forced to hand it over to China in a debt-for-equity swap.

We get it. Laos should have taken some U.S. backed bank loans and invested into casinos, gambling, sexpat tourism and imported luxury to become superpowers like Vietnam and India. Yet they chose to build infrastructure, employment, economical job training, healthy tourism and trade, which we all know is the path towards poverty and dependency on foreign aid.

This is my hypothesis.

It is structure that Sri Lanka wont repay debt and the port be handover to China.

If China asking to rent the port in the first place, the project wont move.

BANGKOK (The Nation/ANN): The Department of International Trade Promotion’s representative in the Chinese port city of Guangzhou said a railway between China and Laos will be beneficial for Thailand as well.

The representative said this new railway will save around two days in the transfer of goods from China to Thailand compared to the current R3A highway, which covers an extended part of China and Laos before ending in Chiang Rai’s Chiang Khong district.

The railway should also cut down on transportation costs by two fold, the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning said.

Hence, it will be easier for products from China to penetrate the Thai market, while Thailand’s agricultural goods will have a cheaper channel for transportation.

Recent reports say the rail-line between China’s Kunming city with the Laotian capital Vientiane is nearly 91 per cent complete. This 1,000-km railway track is part of the Belt and Road initiative and should go into operation by December 2021.
