China, Vietnam Ink Electricity Supply Deal

The China Southern Power Grid Company will supply Vietnam with annual electricity of 1.3 billion kwh in a purchase term of ten years, said sources with the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC).

Under an agreement signed between the Southern Power Grid and the Vietnam National Power Corporation, the Chinese company will supply electricity to six provinces in northern Vietnam via 220 kv electrical lines, with annual sales income topping US$50 million.

The two sides also signed a memorandum of understanding on stepping up cooperation and investment in the power sector.

The Sino-Vietnamese cooperation in the power sector constituted an important component in the power cooperation in the Greater Mekong River sub-region, said a leading person with the China Southern Power Grid, adding that joint efforts to develop other power grid projects are going on.

The Chinese power grid company started electricity supply to Vietnam in September 2004.

Vietnam should thank Cambodia because Vietnam imports pepper from Cambodia
Vietnam should thank Laos, because Vietnam imports fruit from Laos
Vietnam should thank Korea because Vietnam imports semiconductor components from Korea
Vietnam should thank Japan because Vietnam imports machinery from Japan
Vietnam should thank Russia for importing hot rolled iron from Russia
................................
Vietnam should thank all countries.
OK

中国真是愚蠢
China and its leaders are not stupid.

It is a commercial transaction between a buyer and a seller. Vietnam uses its own money to buy electricity, and China is the country that sells electricity. Nothing is free here.

This article analyzed why China sells electricity to Vietnam. It gave two reasons:
1. Guangxi has excess power, selling electricity is a better choice.
2. Vietnam needs electricity to exploit and produce raw materials to supply factories in China

There are a few more reasons, the author has hidden it, because there are some problems that can be understood but cannot be directly written down.

This netizen gave a short answer: China sells electricity, it is a way for Vietnam to depend on China, and China can use electricity as a weapon. In the future, China may suddenly stop selling electricity and destroy Vietnam's industrial and economic system.

Opinion in another article: Sell electricity to strangle Vietnam's economy, destroy Vietnam's power industry system

END: There are many Chinese people who are angry because they think that the Chinese government provides free electricity to Vietnam or that China helps Vietnam. LOL. This is a misunderstanding.
1. China does not provide free electricity. China sells electricity and receives money
2. China does not help Vietnam. China's leaders have other plans

Probably need it for the new Chinese own factories.
Recently, Vietnam lacked electricity due to high demand, so they decided to import electricity.
The problem is as simple as that.

If VN leaders listen to that PDF race traitor Viet guy, Vietnam will go stone age. He keep glorifying renewables. I keep advocating for Quang Ninh coal.

But then, buying power from China has a big advantage. China will the brunt of higher per capita CO2 and need to plant more tree to offset the CO2. On the long run if this persist, likely Vietnam will be a vassal state.
