Taiwan scrambled interceptors on Sunday morning and broadcast warnings after two PLA J-11 fighter jets crossed the median line and entered the island’s southwestern airspace.

Despite those warnings, the Chinese fighter jets continued their incursion for about 10 minutes – unusual compared to earlier intrusions, in which Chinese aircraft would quickly return to the China side of the median.

Actually I would better see at least J-11B or Su-30 and perfectly Su35 or J-16 as interceptors instead of basic J-11. J-11A is too weak, it would be PR slam for China if some shooting started and then one J-11 was shot down, by F-16. J-16 can shot down any F-16 RoC has.

I doubt those Taiwanese F-16 intercepting the J-11 are very advanced. Those J-11 crossing the line, shall have AWACS datalink supported nearby.

Not to mention HQ-9 missile with intercepting range of 210km standby in Fuijian province which is only 130km away from Taiwan.

With the current mood in the air, everybody's sight is fixed on one man really.

From what I know, 2 month ago, the entirety of local party committee sat in the war room, and kept calling zhongnanhai for days in a row, waiting for an answer whether to declare an emergency situation in the city, or not, or just any direction.

Only 6 days later, they got something from secretaries. The man himself did not dare to issue anything directly.

The head of local party school is said to have exploded with curses for who you knows whom at that time.

You can guess, the situation elsewhere in China wasn't much different, and if it were party school heads who went nuts, then everybody else did too.

The man will do anything to take the heat off himself now. The longer are cadres preoccupied with the current situation, the harder it will be to change the topic for him before the next plenum. At the current trajectory, the brouhaha may well last into the plenum period. Not good for him.

I will not be surprised if this will escalate into cross-straight pew pew again. A real conflict is certainly not in Xi's interests though.

I understand where you are coming from actually. The history is quite hard and controversial, but the hope is that at least economically today these people are doing better but there are still issues that need to be fully investigated and re-resolved. But also, you need balanced outlook- you just look from 1 angle, when many exist. cheers.
