English will be number one for accademia, international business/politics/law because is more precise then Chinese, in fact many words in modern Mandarin were maded by Japan when they "copied" from the West in the 19th century, because Western languages was difficult for them so they took 2 Kanji combined them into pair and slapped them on with Japanese pronunciation for all the new Western concept

Later on the Chinese imported those Kanji (with their own reading in Chinese) and you will find words such as "Republic" "Capitalism" "Society" "Boycott" "Socialism"

Modern Mandarin Chinese is very Westernized through the eye of Japan.
