What's new

China conducted test on ground-based midcourse missile interception

the KKV, kinetic kill vehicle. the maneuvering impactor.

.
What is that?

the KKV, kinetic kill vehicle ,EKV,Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle. on top of the inercept missiles. the maneuvering impactor.

it contains infrared sensor,on board navigator, antenna, main engine, attitude control thruster, fuel tanks,on board computer and laser target designator etc.

see the usa's EKV

I have a question, how the KKV destroy the target (coming ballistic missile), directly hit it as a suicide satellite or shoot high-energy laser or some metal bullet to destroy the target? How it work ?

impact directly.
The KKV(or EKV)has the abilities of self infrared detection, self intelligent tracking, self navigation, self orbit maneuver, aim to hit to kill the target with about 5KM/second highspeed.

Many contries has the ability to anti-ballistic,sach as pac-3,S-300,HQ-9 etc terminal antimissile systems, that can destory the target with proximity fuze explosion warhead . Only USA, Russia(USSR)and China can conducted midcourse missile inerception. And only USA and China can do that with the KKV and hit to kill technology,(USSR 's midcourse interception missile destroy the target with a nuclear warhead).

Looking forward to hearing China's MKV tests! None in the world so far...

did they detonate the warhead within range so as to kill the missile exoatmospherically through the blast, shock waves or shrapnels?

Not sure if it helps that Chinese Beidou satellites occupy a higher orbit constellation than the original GPS satellites, though not sure about the new ones.

They should have took those factors into consideration when designing the system. As for commercial sats -Meh it's not the most important thing to worry about when there's a goddamn nuke war going on.

it depends also on the potency of the megatons. As of now I sort of agree with you the largest single megaton blast may not be causing a 'disastrous' harm to most objects flying even in LEO instantly 。 They may be outside of the radius of the effect of the blast.

Mind you the international space station is just maintained at an orbital altitude of between 330 km (205 mi) and 410 km (255 mi).

Last time when we struck down an dyfunctional satellite @ 865 KM above earth with just a kinetic kill , the yanks were wetting their pants crying the space debris.

There is a formula for the calculation of the radius of a nuclear blast when detonation is done on earth.

How do you detonate a nuke in space?

He meant by shooting down the ICBMs with MKV, and no one has done this so far. :coffee:

Yeah I know. the us lab test was done in 1999(posted on youtube in 2008) > 13 years ago.

Hopefully we have something similar or more advance in the lab and then the site test.

The MLV weapon can help reseachers in the General staff find an solution in interception Ballestic Missiles with multiple launch viechles and payloads.

Next time you will see China actually testing its MKV or even space laser against its own ICBMs, since we are not USA and their minions who always love to brag their half-finished products. :coffee:
