DAVOS, Switzerland — The European Union does not see eye-to-eye with the United States when it comes to opposing China, the French finance minister told CNBC Friday.
Speaking at a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, looking at the economic outlook, France’s Bruno Le Maire said: “China cannot be out, China must be in. This is the difference of view we have between the U.S. and Europe.”

“We don’t want to oppose China, we want to engage with China, we want China to obey by the same rules,” he said, “this is our policy.”

The United States has taken a confrontational approach with China particularly when it comes to the technology sector. The European Union, however, has looked at striking a balance between its political friendship with the U.S. and its economic ties with China.

Though European officials have said China is a strategic rival, they also recognize they want to develop commercial ties with Beijing and work together against climate change.
France’s President Emmanuel Macron is reportedly planning a trip to China in the coming weeks to discuss energy and trade, as well as the broader consequences of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Data from Europe’s statistics office showed that China was the third-largest partner for EU exports of goods in 2021, and the largest partner for imports.

USA is the odd one here, in Obama era it still wanted to entangle China, view China as a "flawed partner" until one day they found out entanglement works both ways. 😅

Trump aims to break EU apart
Washington in the era of Donald Trump isn’t just an eccentric, out-of-sorts, old friend to Europe, but rather an opponent that wishes it harm.

Trump and Russia Republicans want to end the EU. Are using buddy Putin to attack Europe. China sides with Trump/Putin vs EU. And EU still want trade with China.

Bannon opposes the EU, supports Russia and wants Ukraine to lose. Tucker opposes the EU, supports Russia and wants Ukraine to lose. Russia Republicans oppose the EU, support Russia and want Ukraine to lose. That is the Team Trump/Team Putin agenda. And China backs Trump/Pompeo agenda.

.
Brexit is a disaster to the UK. China does not do the smart thing and stab UK in the back by supporting the EU vs UK, EU vs Russia and EU vs US. If China and EU increase trade and prosperity, that is not only beneficial to both trade empires of the EU and China, that Russia Republicans oppose, it is a revenge against Anglo-American bullies.

Putin is part of the plan to weaken the EU. Putin heavily supported Brexit. Brexit was backed by the MI6 media in the UK. Brexit was supported by Trumpers and Trump. Brexit was the agenda of the Kremlin, in partnership with the British Royals and the other British cronies.

China supports the Trump war on the EU. So I really don't see how things can be the same, since Putin and Trump want to end the EU and Putin is doing the deed Trump wants of Putin.

EU and China relations won't ever recover to pre-2022 levels. Had the Trump war been against China and Europe backed it, Chinese would fuming about hatred of "whitey". Instead China stabbed the EU in the back, Trump is using Putin and Russia Republicans are using Putin to wage war on Europe and weaken the EU.

Going forward, the relation between China and the EU, is going to be out of necessity. The Trump war started and China sides with Trump.

This conflict is not about NATO, the Pompeo/Trump agenda was to leave NATO and let Putin invade Europe.

Trump hates NATO Europe, except Le Pen and UK.

Trump and Russia Republicans want to end the EU and China. Putin is tasked with destroying Europe and Russia Republicans are tasked with destroying China. Strange that China supports the Putin war on Europe.

Had the EU supported the Trump war agenda on China. Trump would talk to Putin to not attack Europe. Zelensky, with no friends, would have gave Putin and separatists over 2 trillion dollars in resources. And the entire globe would be focused on destroying China. Russia would treat the US China war, same as war in Iraq. Would only give minimal support to China. And China would be destroyed.

Because the EU opposed the Trump agenda of a war with China, Europe and the EU are foes of the USA/Russia Republicans. This war is because we supported China throughout the Trump years, and the actions of China are worse than a stab in the back on the EU, worse than an betrayal. Europe supported the existing globalist order that would have seen China rise and out-perform the USA. For this EU became the main foe of Trump. The first to be taken out.

And Chinese and Iranian members are cheering for European tears in the defeat of Ukraine.

Biden is only giving enough arms to Ukraine to ensure a Russian victory while preventing Europe from waking up that the USA agenda is still "destroy Europe".

Le Maire Says US Wants to Oppose China, EU Wants to Engage It

Fri, January 20, 2023 at 2:38 AM EST·

(Bloomberg) -- Europe mustn’t get embroiled in a standoff between China and the US, and should instead forge its own path in strengthening economic relations, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said.

There is a “slight gap” between how Europe and the US deal with China, he told Bloomberg Television’s Francine Lacqua at the World Economic Forum in Davos. It’s in the European Union’s own interests to work with China toward goals including tackling climate change and furthering trade, he added.

“The US wants to oppose China, we want to engage China,” Le Maire said on Friday. “I strongly believe that in the world game, China must be in, China cannot be out.”

French President Emmanuel Macron and his finance minister have often called for Europe to coordinate more to assert itself as a third force on the world economic stage. For Le Maire, that has meant talking tough on US industrial policy, which he has accused of veering toward a China-style globalization with massive subsidies in the Inflation Reduction Act.

Le Maire said the EU should have a “two-track approach” in its response to the climate legislation, both demanding concessions and developing its own measures.

“We are expecting some concessions from our American friends but there is also another way, which is to put in place a kind of European Inflation Reduction act,” Le Maire said. “Time is of the essence: we need to be more independent.”

West didnt give China its reputation in charity. China gained it with hard work, and China will retain it till it will be working hard.
Till then, USA can dream whatever it feel craving for..

EU is literally a lapdog of US, it is with US ideologically and practically against China from the so called pretentious human rights issues such as faked Uyghur genocide and US trade wars with China. How can China side with EU against Russia after all these acts by EU against China ? Besides, Russia is a big neighbour and a strategic partner to China, China is no fool.

even a 3rd rate fool would choose EU over Russia

France has always being a double faced man to China. In one occassion, it will say something that seems neutral to China, on the other occassions, it will say and act against China on the US side.
