The city where I am traveling is a 5 million people 3/4th tier city with more than one million inhabitants in the downtown. GDP per capita is nearly $8000. I haven't heard any news about any plan of metro construction though. At least some trams and light rails should be built connecting old town to economic zones.

Even a nationwide tally of 20000km subways does not do justice to a country China's size and population。

China has got a long way to go infrastructure wise。

True.

Today After exiting Yueyang Tower, we took a bus to the cinema. The roads were so congested, we nearly missed our movie.

It is a huge lark by Dongting Lake, only half an hour by bus from the high-speed railway station(if no traffic jam). There are a lot of exhibitions inside.

Btw, if u can recite the whole article of the famous essay Notes on Yueyang Tower which was written in Song Dynasty ten centuries ago, u can enter the park with free tickets. I thought it was just a promotion, but I really saw people especially young students waiting in a long queue before The Recite Pavilion! I can't recite it now, but I could when I was in high school.
