China Disputes Some US Goals for APEC | News | English

The Chinese official also expressed China's reservations about the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a trade pact being negotiating on the sidelines of the meeting by nine APEC members.

Yu calls on members to strike a balance between the TPP and already existing multilateral trading mechanisms. He says he thinks the multilateral regimes should be the major channel, and that regional mechanisms should be a supplement, rather than a replacement.

The United States has been instrumental in pushing for the realization of the TPP, which aims to remove all tariffs between member countries within 10 years. Speaking about the agreement last week, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns says the aim is to forge stronger links between the Americas and Asia.

“The goal of the cutting-edge TPP is to unite Peru, Chile, and the United States with New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Brunei and eventually future members, in a single trading community, using the highest standards,” Burns stated.

Japan is still trying to decide whether to join the TPP negotiations despite opposition from its powerful farm sector. When Chinese officials were asked Monday whether Beijing would join the regional trade agreement, they said China has not received an invitation.
Once the TPP is ratified, foreign companies currently in China would flee to Malaysia and Vietnam, and create a single unified anti-China economic zone which the US plans to eventually turn into an anti-China security alliance.

Fine. Let Japan and China form their super economy, No.2 and No.3, so to speak.

Then The US and her rat countries like S.Korea can be doing great without them.

It would be a good move to keep China out of this group !

How could foreign companies flee from China when production costs are higher in Malaysia and this country does not have the productive industrial capacity which is at its optimun and cannot handle new productive industries. Regarding Vietnam, this country is plagued by a crumbling infrastructure and lack productive capacity. Ractifying such regional agreement would not serve the US which would continue to lose its manufacturing sector.

Yes, both the US and Japan intend to keep China out of this. India may be invited if India wished to join, thereby creating an alliance of free countries against China.

U.S.-South Korea pact should spur Japan on TPP : Editorial : DAILY YOMIURI ONLINE (The Daily Yomiuri)

Check on China

The PP will help the United States create a U.S.-led economic zone in Asia--a base for global economic growth--and serve as a check on China, which is increasing its influence.

Also, stronger relations with South Korea, a U.S. ally and neighbor of China, are geopolitically significant for the United States.

In an indication of the importance the United States attaches to South korea, it is backing South Korea's bid to host a meeting of Group of 20 leaders in Seoul and regards the U.S.-South Korea alliance as a cornerstone for the security of the Pacific region.

During their latest talks, the leaders of the United States and South Korea also agreed to strengthen cooperation so their countries could respond promptly and effectively to North korea, which is continuing its nuclear and missile development.

Noda, who will visit South korea on Tuesday, must work to strengthen bilateral ties with South Korea from a strategic viewpoint, through such means as early resumption of talks on a bilateral economic partnership and a coordinated response to North Korea.

The same was said of China back in the 80s.

Regarding Vietnam, this country is plagued by a crumbling infrastructure and lack productive capacity.
Once again, the same was said of China back in the 80s.

Once the TPP is ratified, Vietnam becomes the new premier low-cost production base that will have free access to the US, Japanese, and Australian markets. Thus there will be a massive relocation of factories from China to Vietnam, and Vietnam will grow richer and stronger. Stronger and prosperous Vietnam serves the US interests.

Ractifying such regional agreement would not serve the US which would continue to lose its manufacturing sector.
The US objective is that if they are going to send jobs to overseas, then send them to Vietnam instead of China, as well as shipping Chinese jobs to Vietnam as well.

The US would welcome Indian participation in TPP. The decision rests up on the Indian government, not the US government.
Obvously sir..
There is no need to obey there orders we have many friends in TTP,so if they invites us we would be more than happy to join it....

Just out of pure curiosity. Why are you so much against China?
