China Admits Stealth Fighter Not a Match to US F-35

The stealth fighter which was displayed in last month's air show at the Chinese city of Zhuhai created a lot buzz in the Chinese official media and Pakistan Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain said Islamabad is in talks with the Beijing to acquire it for Pakistan Air Force.

The J-31 fighter's chief designer, Sun Cong, said while J-31 has better performance than its US counterpart in some aspects, he admitted that it has some flaws.

"Basically the model has met our expectations," state-run Global Times quoted him as saying.

Lin also expressed the company's desire to change the global warplane market paradigm, which the US claims to dominate since it unveiled F-35 fighter in 2007.

"The world should be balanced. Good products cannot be owned by one group," Lin said.

The J-31 is the second domestically manufactured stealth fighter. Compared with the J-20 stealth fighter, the J-31 is a smaller twin-engine version.

"Both the J-31 and J-20 are products of China's move to develop stealth fighters. It is unrealistic for the two models to surpass their US counterparts in a short period of time," Wang Yanan, the deputy chief editor of Aerospace Knowledge magazine, told the daily.

That is claimed by the designer. He never mention J-31 is flawed or inferior to F-35. So I wonder where the so called words of being flawed come from. Unless you tell me you can understand mandarin from the interview video?

From your your own article its just some deputy editor from a unnamed aerospace magazine who thinks it unrealistic to expect the fighter to surpass the US counterparts straight away, how is that china admiting the j31 being not a match for the f35? This looks like indians desperately trying to find some thing negative, anything negative about this aircraft. This is rich considering indias inability to build anything comparable.

J31 is a state of art plane, it will surpass F35 in A-A role in the future. There is only first win in the real combat, second is the loser. Don't underestimate Chinese ambition and the ability. We are somewhere beyond Indians' imagination. FYI, the turbine inlet temperature of WS15 turobjet in development had reached to 1925K, nealy on par with the 1975k of the f119 of F22. we ARE rockin and roll, wait and see. Trolls go get a life, we live in different scale.

No one could stop CHina's progess in this world, including Uncle Sam. We are smart both technically and economically.

Within 2 years, the J20 will be installed with WS15 engine with 16 TONS thrust power. How can F35 deal with a supercruise stealthy fighter like j20. WS13A with 9.5 tons of thrust power is under development, will see it before the end of 2016.

I want to persuade those Indians trolls. Instead of wasting time slang China's engine, better take your time to do some realistic things.
