Power minister Jyotiraditya Scindia calls off power ratings event as Gujarat discoms top again
The power ministry cancelled the power ratings event 48 hours before the scheduled event on February 20 without citing any reason.
Time and again, BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has said that UPA Government is giving step-motherly treatment to the BJP-ruled States, here is an instance which proves Centre’s biasness against Gujarat.
Power Ministry on Tuesday hurriedly cancelled a ceremony to felicitate the top-ranking distribution companies after it came to know that four Gujarat companies emerged as the best in the race.
According to a report published in The Economic Times, Power Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia was scheduled to felicitate the winners for their credit-worthiness in which 39 companies from 20 States were to be assessed.
Gujarat’s power companies shine despite UPA malevolence
The cancellation of the scheduled program surprised the managing directors of three of the four Gujarat discoms who had come to Delhi to attend the event.
“We have received no communication about the cancellation of felicitation. We cannot make any comment on the Ministry’s decision but the launch of rating report was not in true spirit. Our performance speaks louder than felicitation from Scindia,” said one of the MDs of Gujarat discoms.
Lessons on infrastructure from Gujarat for the rest of India
It is reported that ICRA and CARE took note of very high operational and financial performance capabilities of the utilities. The distribution companies from Gujarat were as ‘A+’. Companies of Maharashtra and West Bengal were graded ‘A’, followed by 11 entities from Karnataka, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Punjab with ‘B+’ grade.
