MUMBAI: The Indian Premier League is always full of surprises. After all the fuss over Pakistan being 'excluded' from the 2010 auction comes a soothener: IPL-2 champions Deccan Chargers will be signing up Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq, as an injury replacement for IPL-3.

Incidentally, Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shah Rukh Khan had recently said that he was keen on signing Razzaq, but seems to have missed out.

Deccan Chargers chairman V Shankar told TOI on Thursday, "One of our (international) players is injured and needs a surgery. Therefore, we needed a replacement and Razzaq fits the bill well because of his all-round abilities. There was never an issue about Pakistan players being deliberately not picked as has been talked about all along."

The injured cricketer in the Deccan camp is West Indies fast bowler Fidel Edwards. Chargers did not reveal any further details but the injury to Edwards opened up a slot for an international cricketer, paving the way for Razzaq. However, as of now, Chargers is the only team going ahead and buying a player from across the border.

If Razzaq signs the contract, I and most other Pakistanis will lose any respect for him and view him as a traitor.

For some Money also has place in life, Most of foreign players are vying for the position, It will be difficult for Razzak to refuse it.

In Islam you're taught to look over such factors when making decisions. He should have the strength to do that at his age.

no pakistani player are allowed to play on Indian soil after what sohail tanvir said about Indians.

Razzaq should refused to play in bharat if emotion is high. He doesn't need rejection from Pakistanis.

He and Rana naved played in Bangladesh in home series this year. They both performed very well.

IPL fiasco: Gag order issued for Pakistan players

LAHORE: Pakistani cricketers have been told not to speak on the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the contradicting statements made by players are adding to the confusion over their participation in the event. “The team management has told the players to avoid making comments on the IPL, while the sports management company that represents some of these players has also issued the same order,” an official said on Thursday.

The orders came in the wake of completely different statements of all-rounder Shahid Afridi appeared in the media.

Afridi was quoted as saying that he had forgiven the people responsible for the humiliation caused to the country’s cricketers at the Mumbai auction, and was willing to play in the IPL if invited. However, in another statement, media quoted him as saying that this year he “will not go to the IPL at any cost, not even with the South Australian team in the Champions League after being insulted at the auction”. There is also a confusion over Abdul Razzaq’s participation as some reports say he has been offered a contract by Deccan Chargers. However, the reigning champions have denied this, saying they do not have a slot available for any foreign player.
