As mentioned yesterday on China Car Times, the Chang’an CS75 Mid Size SUV was unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show where the D-Segment SUV was well received by the media who were clearly taken back by a good looking Chinese car. Chang’an has used Frankfurt as a stepping stone to introduce its cars into China before, previously the Eado compact sedan was aired in Frankfurt prior to its China launch.
This new CS75 is powered by a 2.0L naturally aspirated engine and a 1.8T unit capable of producing a respectable (but not earth shattering) 177bhp with a 6 speed automatic gearbox from Aisin being offered. No word on any manual, yet.
Chang’an say they have developed the car to a 5 star C-NCAP standard and comes with safety features such as ESC stablizer and EPB, Tyre Pressure Monitoring and double side impact airbags as standard. Pricing is currently a no-go area for Chang’an, but with what we have seen so far and from what we are hearing we suspect that this SUV won’t be cheap – expect something in the 150,000RMB range rather than the BYD S6 fighting 120,000RMB range.
