The claims of 'everyone knows what the true Islam is' sound extremely hollow when the top Islamic body in a country with so called Islamic Scholars appointed by the government States that pedophilia and child rape are 'In accordance with Quran and Sunnah', or States that the use of DNA evidence in rape cases is 'un-Islamic'.

And it's not just Pakistan, these 'reputable Islamic Scholars' have issued depraved fatwas in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Turkey.

At what point will Muslims recognize that current traditional Islamic interpretations have been deeply corrrupted by men from deeply backward, tribal and patriarchal societies and start rejecting the status quo?

Puberty is the START of changes in the human body - the START of the process of the human body maturing to the point of safely being able to sexually reproduce. The end of the process does generally occurs in the late teens and it is at that point that the human body can SAFELY reproduce sexually.

Yes, you could rape (marry under the perverted laws of our Islamic Scholars) a girl of 9 years old and impregnate her, but that child will carry the pregnancy at great physical and mental harm to herself. Even when puberty is complete (at times between 15 and 17) girls and boys are overwhelmingly in no position to be considered mentally competent to make life-changing decisions such as marriage or having a child.

Child marriage is not just physical rape of children to satisfy the perversions of our Mullahs and those cheering them on, it is also an assault on the mental well being of these children.

There is no excuse for marriage before the age of 16-18, and to try and justify it as 'Quran and Sunnah' is utterly disgraceful and paints Islam (as interpreted by these so called Islamic Scholars) in an extremely disgusting light.

Mohammad Anwar, 15, raised his hand by mistake after apparently mishearing the question.

The crowd swiftly accused him of blasphemy so he went to his house and cut off the hand he had raised, put it on a plate, and presented it to the cleric, the police chief said.

The incident took place at a village in Hujra Shah Muqeem district, some 125 kilometres (77 miles) south of Lahore, the capital of Punjab province, about four days ago, according to the policeman.

Ahmed said that he has seen a video in which the boy is greeted by villagers in the street as his parents proclaim their pride.

No complaint has been made, he said, so no police report has been filed and there will be no investigation.

Blasphemy is a hugely sensitive issue in Pakistan, an Islamic republic of some 200 million, where even unproven allegations frequently stir mob violence and lynchings.

Critics including European governments say the country's blasphemy laws are often misused to settle personal scores.

I'm not arguing against increased investment in and reform of education, just pointing out that without a concurrent effort to reform traditional Islam, investment in education is only going to yield limited results. And you can't even have this discussion (of reforming traditional interpretations of Islam) widely and openly in society without an outright repeal of the Blasphemy laws and laws against Ahmadis because these laws are a continuing symbol of the very repression and intolerance that has prevented the reform and societal discourse on reform that we need.

There's a difference b/w eduction and having a degree in hand. Unfortunately, we got so many "Parhe likhe jahil". They have studied for a diploma only. I am talking about the eduction and/or knowledge with wisdom. A pen can win a war.

This is why I mentioned, focusing on curriculum is needed as well. The real teaching of Islam would not make you hate on Ahemdis.

Blasphemy laws shouldn't be there? When the majority of people are Sunni Muslims in Pakistan and can not bear hurtful acts against the messenger of ALLAH and/or ALLAH. What should they do then? That's really spontaneous to react over it. I am not supporting this law, but minorities also have responsibilities to not commit anything that would hurt most of the people. It ends up creating more mess in society. Nai?
