The world's second-fastest growing economy after China is no longer India. It's Pakistan.

According to figures released over the weekend by Pakistan's Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, the $110 billion economy is estimated to have grown 8.4 percent in the current fiscal year that ends June 30. That compares with 9.5 percent expansion in China's gross domestic product last year, while India recorded 6.9 percent GDP growth in the 12 months ended March 31.

We were growing with 8.4% annualy in 2005.

how can we turn back pakistan and pakistan economy to this position?

or it is impossible now?

. . .
End conflicts ------> Bring Imran Khan ------------> reshape our foreign policy to a much low profile one -------> 15 years of quiet development divided in 3 5 year and one 15 year economic plan.

But who bells the cat

.
I think what we need to evaluate is the Anti Terrorism , laws that India introduce shoot the Terrorist first ask questions later
Secondly , we need to impose a ban on the material / chemicals being used in the explosives , a STRICT guidelines
Only issue chemicals to companies, or farmers etc

Impose Taxes - it will hurt as hell, but its needed to revive gov Taxes are must

In that particular year Pakistan got a US brokered debt relief and the extra fund was diverted towards ADP and was doubled. This bubble was artificial and not sustained.

this was not articial

Pak was growing with average 6-8% till2007..
pak even managed to have growth of 7% in 2007.
andthe news is before the earth quake

Rate of growth does not mean anything..Equatorial Guinea has a growth rate of 18.9%.It a simply indicates that the rate of growth is high.It does not mean that the country is a really developed one.

WoT needs to end ASAP. Removing Zardari, bringing Imran Khan will not make as much difference as ending WoT will. WoT is bleeding Pakistan.

The man who helped bring about that 8.4 GDP growth rate is Fmr. PM. Shaukhat Aziz. His economic policy was productive, Gwadar, promoted Pakistan as a place for investment, growth in FDI, expanding tax net, low rate mortgage (construction boom), increae funding for education, improvements in banking and availability of capital, etc.

I give a lot of "credit" to PM Shaukhat Aziz, pun intended.

Good analysis of S. Aziz.

you are right
Imran khan is not the lost hope
even if WOT end within this govt pak will get better

imran khan said if we end WOT.80% terrorism will be shut down in pakistan

Agreed, WoT needs to end, get a cease fire treaty signed with the tribes and TTP. Agreement must include disarmament of certain weapons as explosives, gun regulations, and integration of FATA and set up Provincial Government in that hell hole. See it's not the whole of Pakistan that is the problem it's that hell hole of illiterate gun totting cave men in FATA who in partnership with foreign intel conduct terroist attacks against Pakistan, instead of only fighting Army in battlefield in Waziristan.

This should be last treaty with them, any serious violation should be met with at least 5 days of hard military force against TTP.
