the guy in the back is not a pilot, that's pm khakan Abbas. the pilot is in the front. now please compare the helmets of the two. the helmet that the prime minister (back) is wearing is the normal one that we are all used to seeing. but the helmet that the pilot (front) is wearing is very odd, its... bulging outwards, what is that? HMDS?

Well, I'm no expert on that but I agree with you it is different and can be an HMDS... After all we saw a chopper pilot wearing HMDS in Pakistan.

if this is indeed HMDS then I suspect that we are in possession of the AIM -9X AAMs that require an HMDS. Otherwise HMDS is of no worth unless you are able to just look and shoot.

That helmet is a very special helmet. It has a very special name. It's called
"Al Topi e Pak Fuzaiyah"

Yep - JHMCS. It's fitted on the PAF's F-16 MLUs and Block-52+.

Unfortunately, the PAF does not have AIM-9X.

This particular Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System was actually created to serve the F 35 Fighter jet for the US airforce, it would be rather surprising to me to find out that the US has given this sort of technology to Pakistan, It s likely that helmets such as the one in the picture were purchased as part of an undisclosed deal between us and China. no?

Apart from providing targeting information, it allows the slaving of both radar and missile seekers for the AIM-120 and the AIM-9M-8/9
