Can Saudi Arabia develop a major domestic arms industry by 2030?

A western backstabbing against GCC is a matter of time, so they must be ready.

Military electronic can be easily remotely hacked by the [western] manufacturer.

I don't think a backstabbing is imminent but depends on the government that comes to power.. I could forsee in the far future like 25-30 years from now some extremist far-rights coming to power across the West this could automatically lead to a collision course but not their current civilian governments there is mutual understanding but you can never ignore such unexpected developments in the far future. That is mainly the only existential threat imho hanging over the Holy land and due to it being the holy land the forces there has worked tirelessly to minimize all sorts of external threat levels towards the 2 holy cities specifically. With the Peninsula shield includes the 6 GCC + Egypt+Sudan+Jordan having immediate access to defend will hold their grounds if NATO were to attempt the unthinkable until the East(Pakistan, Indonesia, Malayisa, Central Asia states and Maghreeb arrives to aid. This could turn into the mother of all wars since the Qibla unites us all we could automatically end up with a large coalition and the manpower is there but without a doubt we will make our stand will not go quit into the night.. Turkey, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Iran could also make a stand. It becomes pretty much existential and could turn into the prophetic al-malhama.. This could be similar to the battle of Ain-Jalut it was also of such importance

I think western backstabbing timing depends of cheap Oil availability.

It's hard to know because there is a lot of misinformation in every direction.

Maybe 5, 10, or 50 years.

I dont know, but Libya and Iraq is the model: Destroy a oil exporter country to decrease internal oil-conssumption of that country.

And dont let a complete reconstruction, sustain the country in the failed state, bomb with drones, and spy their smartphones, it's the modern way of get raw materials from foreign countries without need any order.

I don't think it will depend on oil but rather change of government and extremists gaining foothold in the west this could be the more viable reason.. Around 25-30 years from now we could see an unexpected far-right extremists taking rule which will be unexpected but you never know..

As for the Iraq option is not practical nor achievable in the Qibla. All these nations have militarily made significiant growth it is not quite possible engaging them without it being the absolute last resort decision. anything in the Qibla will trigger ww3. It won't be a decision to take easily but will be the extreme last resort for them... Nobody will come dancing their way into such a magnititue conflict with chemical weapons and Nukes being used in gigantic scale due to the vast numbers manpower that could be available to part take it

Remember one thing if you read the hadith, it's not a total victory for the Muslims as Allah said he will decree the enemy to be routed if I remember correctly on the 4th day and the key words of that hadith is that the last detachment of Muslims will be from it's "remnants". This shows we will be a diminished number during that time, another hadith says the Roman's will have a majority population on earth. So there is no joy in victory or anything and it's just a symbolic token of disengagement, after being slaughtered like lambs, in my view it's not even a war worth fighting.

You have read wrong. The war will be forced upon the muslims and yes they will lose alot populations due to it but also gain victory as in total victory as Rome will fall to them and the lands beyond it in Europe will fall to the victor.. This is what it says and obviously it is not worth fighting that war but I think it will be forced upon them so there is technically no choice for them at that given time they certainly won't be the aggressor who has initiated it.. It also says something about 1/3 of the world dying due to it not only muslims.. Sounds to be like there be alot of collateral damage

my dear friends you all added great comments but we really need to look at it like a outsider there are 6 main domains in general that a Saudi Arabian functional domestic arms industry needs " air , sea, ground plus missiles ( ballistic and cruise. etc. ), drones and last but not least cyber " to be independent , add to that the protection cost. now you get a good understanding where they are in 10 years not even US can build all the factories for that 6 domains, they need to build tanks, missiles , drones in different classes, warships, fighter jets, aircraft engine and more.

it took Iran missile industry ( just 1 of the domains ) a whopping 20-25 years to build underground facilities and im sure we all know how important missiles are for Iran.

They are not in a hurry because they are already stacked militarily and have much superior armement than Iran currently as it stands. They are not in a hurry for the next 20 years.

But it won't take them more than 5-10 years to be completely independent because UAE is already a model and they are producing everything and functional hence it won't take them long time to be up and running. UAE defense industry is the best in middle east currently and producing stuff the west nor china doesn't even have. They have a head start on this and already have the intellectual elements just need to setup the factories and overlap the intellegence elements by shipping them over or embedding some of theirs into the UAE to gain experience and a head-start. It won't be a start from square zero but more of an embedding into another functioning industry by setting up collabs and co-productions

They have both Resources and exposure to the technology and R&D so I don't see why not..

Saudi Arabia only needs 30 months

even maybe 30 days ......
in 30 months Saudi Arabia can not develop even AESA Radar for Fighter Jets ... even I am not talking about turbofan Engine

This.. Plus they won't necessarily be needing it completely functional until the next 10 years because they are already armed heavily for the next 20 years. UAE defense companies are expanding each day and clearly want to rival Turkey's defense industry in the next 10 years. Their activity is good.

The UAE defense industry is functional and producing everything and firing on all cylinders.. Most aggressive defense companies are located in UAE in the region except for Turkish defense companies who also seem to be ultra aggressive.. But UAE defense companies are legendary aggressive and spammers of productions. The Saudi defense industry (SAMI) is copying and working with these in UAE in that regard it won't take more than 5-10 years being functional. UAE-Saudi Arabia have joint military rooms and alliance. The Saudis can buy whatever UAE is making

The UAE is nothing ... KSA is nothing of nothing

Wrong question.

The question is is, would US military industrial complex allow the milky cow of Al-Saud family to go away and become independent? The answer is never.

Problem is, Saud family owes its throne to Foreign powers, they have to pay for their existence and for keeping the throne. Saud family doesn't owe anything to people of peninsula, hence depending on Foreign powers for their own security. That's how a backward tribal monarchy works.
