I have a question for Health enthusiasts and Body Builders , so my Age is 28 and my height is 6'1 , but my weight is around 60-62Kgs , I have had hard time gaining weight I tried Gym but I have 2 Aluminium Plates in my left hand because of broken bones some 6-8 years ago, every time i tried Working out it eventually start hurting my left arm , so until i have my surgery and remove those Plates i am not comfortable with doing workout .

My question is from a long time , I tried to ask various people and local doctors if i can take Protein Supplement (Whey Gold Standard) , some of the Doctors say No, but some says you can , same thing goes with people , some says its ok to take it and some use fear like it has Steroids and has side effects etc . It always makes me confused about either I can take it or not ? I want to gain weight but even having normal three time meals i think my Protein intake is not as much as i might need to gain weight . So what do you guys think ? Can i take Whey Supplement without working out ? ?

Bro of course you can! Protein supplements have been extensively tested and used by athletes and normal folks into exercise for years. If you want to gain weight I would use a more specific 'mass gainer', which has more crabs, and of course lift heavy for growth.

Get protein from food and not whey or other powdered stuff.

You can eat weight gainers that bodybuilders eat to gain weight. Weight gainers have high carbs and calories and protien as well.

However, you would not really get any health benefits without working out. So even if these or other things work, you'd get fat which may cause other health issues.

Try to find exercises that don't use your arm muscles too much. Like maybe squats with specialised equipment (though even normal barbell squats don't use arms a lot, hands only keep the weights on your back).

You could use weighted vest or similar stuff for squats as well.

Point is that gaining lean bodyweight should be the goal as it has long term health benefits, whereas simply gaining fat, which you would gain if you only increase calories) would be detrimental long term and potentially cause health issues.

And yeah stay away from steroids, those things can mess your health up.

Don't use mass gainers.

Use whey. Build lean. I used it for a few months in order to improve my bball game back in uni especially in ramadan when you can't eat multiple meals in a day. Had to stop as it got expensive because of depreciation of PKR.

It helps as it is difficult to take in that much protein in bulk. You can supplement it with additional meals through out the day in form of eggs, nuts, Greek yogurt, peanut butter apart from regular meals. Don't exceed 30 gm protein portion per meal as excess protein will not be absorbed and you might suffer from high uric acid levels.

There is a misconception that protein powders are magic elixirs that help you gain muscle like pop eye the sailor.
Ectomorphs have a hard time gaining muscle but with the right food nutrition it's not so hard.
Black beans,:nana:<---This fruit, eggs, cashews, spinach, broccoli with cottage cheese should be taken daily.

I am not in medical field or a trainer or someone else, i am only sharing my experience.

If you are not going to workout, protein is not going to help you gain weight. Protein only helps in recovery of muscles when your muscles breakdown after a workout, and even for recovery, protein is not enough. To start the process of muscles recovery body needs amino acids to properly and fully consume the protein. All the extra protein you will eat will leave your body, if your body doesn’t needs it.

I would suggest a high calorie diet, and if you can’t eat that much because of your work routine or something then use a mass gainer. Start with once or twice a week if everything goes smooth you can increase.

I am also 28, 5’9 and my weight was 55,56, 6 months ago. I had a really hard time in gaining muscles weight. I worked out for almost 2 years and was able to gain only 5 kg of muscles mass, that means I roughly touched 60. I was only using whey protein back then for lean mass which was a mistake. I had to leave the gym for almost 2 months and i lost all those hard earned 5kg of muscles, yeah just in 2 months. Maintaining lean mass is really hard.

Now I weigh 69 kg and i got all this weight in last 6 months, now i am focusing on bulking and using mass gainer. In summer i will start focusing on shredding. I also moved to a new place may be that is the main reason for me i think.

I hope you know the difference between whey protein and mass gainer.

Take whey protein for building muscle after work out but also take eggs, chicken, meat and other sources of protein

Dont rely on supplements that much, use real diet.

Can i take Whey Supplement without working out ? ?
It won't affect that much without workout.

If you are actually doing weight training sincerely and seriously at least thrice a week, then whey is excellent. It is a great source of protein. When you work out, you actually create microtears in your muscles and they are rebuilt faster if you have whey. It also causes less muscle fatigue. But it is not something you take to gain weight or build muscle just by consumption.

People love to be smart nowadays. You are 60s but you. Should be 75 or 80.
Start eating junk food. And run a lot. It. Would fill up the fat in right places.

Beans will turn you into a methane production factory lol

But I would say meats are a great source of whole proteins.
Correction! Beans will turn you into a muscular methane production factory

I am not against eating meat but I'd prefer to add these to my daily routine if I want to build muscle.
Measuring protein intake everyday and avoiding junk food is a depressing way to live but hey atleast you get muscle.
