Turn your head for 10 seconds and your stuff is gone. This is at the golden gate viewing spot just over the bridge in Marin county if I’m not mistaken. The second video is near fisherman’s wharf. SF can’t keep even the tourist areas safe. These two videos are possibly from the last 30 days, so it’s the current state of affairs.
When I went to SF a couple of months ago, I never rented a car. I explored the city like people explore Rome; the ruins of a great civilization. But I did see young people and natives aloof about the situation. I think they figure rents will go down and the techies will leave, allowing them to live in their city on their own terms like it was in the early 90s.
Better safe then sorry, especially if your from out of town.
