The telecom regulator has placed an indefinite suspension on the SIM card sale of Grameenphone for the operator's failure to provide quality service.

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) imposed an indefinite suspension on Grameenphone as it is not providing quality service to its users despite repeatedly being asked to do so, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said Wednesday.

"The telecom company has no intention to provide quality service, as it is not doing anything to fix the problems that its subscribers are facing," he added.

"The BTRC placed the sale of Grameenphone SIM cards on indefinite suspension as we do not want new uses to face the same problems."

To be fair, GP is a massive tax avoider.

But I think this is India’s doing.

They want GP out of the way so their operators can monopolise Bangladeshi market.

Yup true. I think Airtel (one of the four cell providers in Bangladesh and an Indian outfit) bribed this idiot to increase their marketshare.

People should start boycotting Airtel. Bunch of morons if they think they can get away with this.

GP service/support is legendary, even if their service is nothing to write home about...they started the digital cell revolution in Bangladesh in the 90's (JV with Telenor) after local Citycell faded from the scene with their analog cell network.
