The BSF jawan Gurnam Singh, who was injured in Saturday’s crossborder fire in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, succumbed to his injuries at night. The 26-year-old jawan had been undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu. According to news agency PTI, Singh died at around 11.45 pm.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr Rajinder Thappa, told ANI that Singh’s parents wanted to shift him to AIIMS for better treatment. “Bullet had hit Gurnam Singh’s head and he was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit. Senior doctors were observing him. His parents wanted him to be shifted to AIIMS for better treatment.We were about to do that yesterday,but unfortunately he passed away.”
Speaking to ANI, the BSF jawan’s father, Kulraj Singh, said, “We want a good hospital to be in place, where all essential facilities will be present. Our son has sacrificed his life for the nation,nobody is sad..infact we’re all happy.”
The Pakistani snipers had targeted him on Saturday as he was involved in foiling a major infiltration bid along the international border in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.
