What types of helicopters does BSF operates?... last time the crash involved a HAL Dhruv.

Former IAF Mi8(really old) and a handful of Dhruv's for VIP transport.
Their maintainence record is pathetic with just one of each type available for duty at any given point.
^^Not jumping to conclusions but just stating that they seriously need to overhaul their Air Wing.

It was a Dhruv apparently. This is the 4th Dhruv operated by BSF that has crashed. Poorly trained maintenance staff?

Glad to know no one died!

Human life is the most precious thing. Machines can be manufactured again!

I think poor maintenance by BSF could be the reason.

Yeah it is quite strange, as far as I know Dhruvs operated by IA, IAF, and IN have had a safe record so for.

Well the fact is no one was killed- a major achivment in itself and the IA and IAF who operate far more ALHs than the BSF have nowhere near this level of crash record. I think both operate a combined fleet right now of ~100 and maybe 4-5 have crashed in 7-8 years of operation with at least two of these being as a result of extreme aerobatic flying and at least 1 due to poor weather in the NE.

The BSF need to get their act together.

News item states that the Chopper crashed during a test flight.....new machine ....or after an overall. ??
It also discloses, four crashes in 12 months. !!

Most likely,an overhaul.

OT-The structural integrity of the chopper is commendable. The same had happened in Uruguay,IIRC.

Yes the structure seems to be well in place....the media tends to refer to every incident as a crash, on the contrary, it appears to be a crash landing.

Indian journalists are not well known for their knowledge related to military equipments.
